The Japanese publisher Konami has announced as part of its Tokyo Game Show stream that it is currently in the process of remastering the classic PlayStation role-playing games in HD (as spotted by Nintendo Life). And don't worry, they're confirmed for an English release.
Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification, is a collection of the first two games in the series and will be coming to PlayStation, Xbox, PC (via Steam), and Nintendo Switch, in 2023. This means it will potentially land in the same year as the Suikoden spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which is being made by series creator Yoshitaka Murayama and a new team at Rabbit & Bear Studios.
The first Suikoden game was originally released for PlayStation in 1995, with a sequel Suikoden II following in 1998 for the same console. This new remastered collection will add upgraded backgrounds, with series artist Junko Kawano returning to help out with the art. The developer Konami is also planning to add a fast-forward function during battles, new environmental sound effects, and a conversation log.
Here's what Konami has shared about the game on its Steam page:

Suikoden 2 is a favorite from my college days. I replayed both on RG351V last year so no interest in this port but at least they seem to have put a little effort in this and it will be fullscreen; there's nothing sadder to me than playing a 4:3 game on a 16:9.
I have Suikoden which was one of the first games I bought on the PS but I never owned nor played 2 due to how rare it is. This will definitely be a day one buy for me. Might double dip and get it both on the Xbox and the Switch.
@Tasuki Glad I am not the only one guilty of buying for multiple patforms. Recently bought Spelunky on PS3 which I already had for Switch/PC. There's also the pleasure of buying a digital game on PS3 in 2022...
@Muriustar I have bought alot of games for multiple platforms, either cause I don't have access to a console anymore or in the case of the Switch so I can have it on the go.
The big ones are the Mega Man games. I have those on the NES (the copies I had as a kid) then it seems I buy them with each generation of consoles. So I have the Genesis versions, then the ports of the NES versions on 3DS, GameCube, Wii (VC) Wii U, Xbox and Switch.
Then there's Borderlands 2 which I have for 360, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch..
I played through number 1 last year. I need to make my way through number 2. Thankfully I have a copy (although it’s easy enough to play a ‘Verbatim’ version!), so really should get around to it. I never played number 2 back in the day so it will be completely new.
