Legendary British developer Archer Maclean has died, we're sad to report.
Famous for titles like IK+, Dropzone and Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker, Maclean became something of a celebrity in British game development circles thanks to the incredible popularity of his output.
Two of Maclean's last tiles were Mercury and Wheelspin, which were available on systems such as the PSP and Wii.
As well as creating games, Maclean was a fan of renovating classic arcade machines.
You can catch Maclean speaking about the creation of one of his most famous titles below:
Tributes to the great man have been pouring in since the news broke:

OMG!! Very sad news indeed what a Legend of the industry.
Those IK games still hold up well, many a battle was had on my Amiga with friends.
Very sad. IK+ is a fantastic game, one of my favourites
Archer actually passed on Dec 17. There will be a memorial service for him in January, and the exact date, time and location will be made public when appropriate. All are welcome to attend.
Very sad news, so young... a true legend. RIP.
IK+ was so good. A very solid three-way fighter, lifted even further by its crunchy sound design. Many happy local multiplayer sessions crowded around a CRT and Amiga, quickly deteriorating Zipsticks in hand.
