Just in case Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge and The Cowabunga Collection weren't enough Turtles goodness for you, a group of fans has recently published an excellent Streets of Rage 2 hack featuring the half-shell heroes.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Re-Revenge essentially takes the framework of Streets of Rage 2 for the Mega Drive/Genesis and completely replaces its character, enemies, and story with an overhaul featuring the Turtles and company.
You play as Raph, Leo, Donnie, Mikey, April O’Neil, Splinter, and Casey Jones, with the sprites for these characters taken from Shredder's Revenge and downscaled to fit the limitations of the Mega Drive/Genesis. There's even an optional Turbo Mode included, just in case you like your games a little more dynamic, and the option for 6-button gamepad support.
The mod's description on RDHN reads:
"Welcome to the universe of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Re-revenge of the Shredder! The city was attacked by a foot ninja army led by Shredder and Krang. Our brave heroes have come together to challenge them and clear the city of evil mutants and foot ninja. But will it be that easy?"
The hack is the work of Savok, PPI_Akiko, and eskayelle and is an incredible effort that is sure to please even the most casual of fans. To play it, you'll need a copy of the USA ROM for Streets of Rage 2, some patching software, and the files for the hack itself. Once you have all that, you should be ready to go!
