Atari VCS Collector's Edition

If you didn't end up backing the revived Atari VCS in 2018, you can now get your hands on one of the numbered collector's edition consoles from Atari's website (Thanks RetroDodo for the spot!).

This collector's edition version of the console was previously offered as an extra incentive for supporters who backed the project as part of the original crowdfunding campaign, with Atari stating at the time that only 6000 of these consoles were produced. Now, though, Atari is selling a bunch of the collectible units online (as part of a limited offer ending on April 9th), which we imagine must sting a little for those who backed it the first time around.

In case you're unaware, the development and launch of the Atari VCS were not entirely free of controversy. Not only did the console suffer from heavy delays before reaching backers in late 2020, but Atari also attributed it to a fall in revenue for the company in the first half of 2022 and then had to publicly reaffirm its support for the system.

If you do decide to grab an Atari VCS Collector's Edition for yourself, below is what you can expect to find:

  • The Atari VCS Game System with the wood panel front
  • A wireless joystick and wireless controller
  • Access to Atari VCS Vault, featuring 100s of arcade and console games
  • And thousands of retro games via Antstream Arcade

It will set you back $299.99. Though, the good news is, unlike the original release, you won't have to wait too long for the console to ship.
