Publisher Lost in Cult has announced that it is producing physical copies of Heterotopias, the online zine devoted to exploring game spaces and architecture.
Established in 2017 by Gareth Damian Martin (Citizen Sleeper, In Other Waters), Heterotopias will be published in three physical volumes. These have been "modified and re-edited for their physical debut" and cover the environments of games such as Inside, Tomb Raider, Metroid Prime, WipEout, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Killer7 and Grand Theft Auto V.
As well as selling the first three volumes individually, Lost in Cult is also creating a special Deluxe Edition, which will include an additional 350+ page book called Studies. All four books will be contained in a fancy slipcase.
"The massive Studies book has a more traditional closed spine and PUR binding, but includes a mix of glossy photographic paper stock and transparent paper used for text sections," Lost in Cult adds. It will showcase essays on titles such as No Man’s Sky, NieR Automata, Horizon Zero Dawn, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Dark Souls Remastered and WipEout Omega Collection.
Heterotopias Book 001 will cost you £29.99, while the second and third volumes retail for £34.99 each. The Deluxe Edition will cost £159.99 and will only be available during the initial crowdfunding campaign, which ends on June 13th at 6PM UK time and has a funding goal of £65,000.
All of the books are expected to ship in Q4, 2023.
