Original Story [Fri 23rd Jun, 2023 16:30 BST]: FPGA expert Adam Gastineau is bringing Nintendo's classic LCD Game & Watch series to the Analogue Pocket, and friend Pixel Cherry Ninja has a beta version of the core running to show what it looks like.
The brainchild of Gunpei Yokoi, the Game & Watch range of handheld devices sold millions of units in the 1980s, laying the foundation for Nintendo's Game Boy – which Yokoi also designed.
The Analogue Pocket core will allow you to simulate playing on an LCD-style screen, complete with the colour backgrounds present on the original Game & Watch devices.
More recently, Nintendo has revived the line to produce special Super Mario and Zelda-themed Game & Watch systems.
