Fanmade SNES Port Of Punch-Out!! Now Available To Download

Now this is cool, because once it's fully ported then some hackers could go in and update the visuals to proper SNES level of colours for a more 16-bit look if they like, and then the SNES would have basically a remaster of what many people still consider the best in the series to go along with Super Punch-Out!!. Two great boxing games for the system there, with or without the colour update. Sweet.

I thought the whole point of porting an NES game to Super NES was that it had Super NES enhanced features like better graphics, 16-bit audios and sounds, voiceworks, and battery back save slots. This is just them ripping the NES rom onto a Super NES chip and just playing it on there using MSU-1 as the audio substitute. This is not Punch-Out!! ported for Super NES, it's just Punch-Out!! emulated on Super NES. It's literally the same thing if you use a clone adapter. For it to feel like a Super NES game it need 16-Bit graphics and support from the Super NES Sony sound chip. It needs to look like this game that some company ported to Super NES a long time ago.

@Serpenterror I think the important thing to remember here is that once the game is ported across it's possible for any SNES artists to simply go in and recolour all the assets to lovely 16-bit colour at will basically. But what you get for now is a port of a NES game that also plays and runs exactly as it's supposed to as well, which would be far less unlikely if someone was trying to just make the original NES Punch-Out!! anew for SNES specifically. So, realy, given this is an unofficial port, it's best positioned to potentially be the best of all worlds, which I honestly do not for one second think some fan-made SNES Punch-Out!! with all specifically written SNES code and new art assets specifically created for SNES, etc, would achieve. As far as porting NES games to SNES goes, I think infidelity is doing it the right way. Now we just need to wait for those talented SNES artist to do the rest of the work with all his port to make the colours more 16-bit. . . .

@Serpenterror "ripping the NES rom onto a Super NES chip" is not as simple as you make it sound. It takes A LOT of effort to rewrite the NES game code to work within the SNES hardware.
Whereas a "clone adapter" is an emulator-on-a-chip running on much more powerful modern hardware so it can do whatever it wants. If I recall, those are not even actually using the host hardware at all (going to the extent of having their own AV output), except as a power source and for getting the controller input.

I recall you frequently making posts against ROMs, emulation and/or ROM hacks (sorry if I forget exactly which) so you maybe you are not familiar with the difference.

Another one to add to the growing list of cool NES ports to SNES. The more the merrier.
