Accessory aficionados 8BitDo has lifted the lid on a new leverless controller currently in the works for Nintendo Switch platforms. The Arcade Controller Pro is now available to pre-order at a variety of outlets ahead of its November 30 release date.

The Arcade Controller Pro (which is also compatible with PC) features a compact design, wired and wireless connectivity, and 17 face buttons, supported by 8BitDo's low-profile linear mechanical switches and easily swappable button caps. A quick-release glass faceplate enables easy access to the unit's infrastructure, and a magnetic wrist rest can be quickly and easily attached for comfort during desktop play.

The unit features turn-key switches for platform choice and button lock, and a built-in 1.47-inch screen offers live info on player input. Five programmable buttons can be mapped for macros or turbo-fire options, and RGB lighting is installed underneath each face button, programmable to several effect cycles.

It's certainly a smart piece of kit, although I can't help but find the turn-key switches and blue, yellow, and green buttons a little... Fisher-Price? Don't get me wrong, I dig the sleek, polished design and nostalgic aesthetic, which reminds me of classic Nintendo controllers such as the NES Advantage stick.

It's just that top-left corner... I kind of expect to hear animal sounds when I press those buttons...

Still, if you aren't as weirdly fixated on these things as I am, the 8BitDo Arcade Controller Pro is available to pre-order right now on the official 8BitDo site or at other retailers including Amazon. The Arcade Controller Pro is priced at $120 USD / €107 ships November 30. Note that an all-white variant is also available.
