Update [Sat 15th Apr, 2023 21:00 BST]: Martin Donlon (AKA @wickerwaka) has confirmed that his Irem M92 core is now part of the official MiSTer distribution, which means you can grab it using the 'update all' script.
Original Story [Tue 28th Mar, 2023 09:45 BST]: The MiSTer FPGA platform now has support for Irem's M92 arcade hardware, opening up access to some of the company's most iconic titles.
The new MiSTer FPGA core comes courtesy of Martin Donlon (AKA @wickerwaka), who notes that while "sample and music playback are working, the audio levels aren't correct and there are still some timing issues. Not all games are working, but a lot are!"
The M92 board powered some of Irem's best coin-op titles of the '90s, including:
- Blade Master / Cross Blades
- Dream Soccer 94
- Gunforce
- Gunforce 2 / Geostorm
- Hook
- In The Hunt / Kaitei Daisensou
- Lethal Thunder / Thunder Blaster
- Major Title 2 / The Irem Skins Game
- Mystic Riders / Gun Hohki
- Ninja Baseball Batman / Yakyuu Kakutou League-Man
- Perfect Soldiers / Superior Soldiers
- R-Type Leo
- Undercover Cops
You can download the core from here.

This is a cool board to add to the MiSTer library as it brings some very good games. In the Hunt is so interesting and unique. I'm most familiar with Ninja Baseball Batman and Undercover Cops because I'm a beat-eum-up guy. I didn't love Undercover Cops at first because it was a bit overwhelming at first. Upon revisiting it, and changing the difficulty to the easiest setting which is still plenty tough, it felt just right and became a lot more fun. I've had that experience with some other games as well. But as for this board, Undercover Cops and Ninja Baseball Batman are both great examples of beat-em-ups and I recommend them.
