The MiSTer FPGA platform continues to impress, this time thanks to support for Konami's legendary Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade machine.
Considered to be one of the greatest scrolling fighters of all time, the game has been ported to home systems in the past – most recently as part of the excellent Cowabunga Collection on modern platforms – but being able to play it on MiSTer is a huge deal, as the FPGA hardware allows for a totally accurate replication of the original coin-op.
The bad news is that while you can grab the files now from the FPGA Gaming Discord server, the core isn't complete as yet; while it's running smoothly, there's currently no sound. However, Furrtek, the developer behind this core, is still hard at work, and we'd imagine that will be fixed fairly soon.
It's also anticipated that the game will become part of the official MiSTer public distribution soon as well, so you'll be able to download it using the trusty 'Update All' script.
If you'd like to give it a whirl now, check out this excellent tutorial from Pixel Cherry Ninja.

Normally I'd jump at this, but with the release of Cowabunga Collection I don't see the point. It's not like it's some lost game that can't be played on a current system.
@Tasuki The Cowabunga Collection is a ROM in an emulator. The Arcade Game has been playable for decades in an emulator. Every game that runs on MiSTer is already available to play as a ROM in an emulator. The point of MiSTer, is that it will be an FPGA version. So you can expect, near perfect arcade accuracy. Not everyone cares about perfectly preserving gameplay, but for those who do, this is news.
Super great news…
After Irem M92 release days ago, this new core will make MiSTer even more wonderful!
