When I used to collect retro stuff in the early 90s, I opened up some Coleco carts and was horrified to see EEPROMs. I sold all my stuff. Started collecting again, and sold everything off again. Other than looking at something on a shelf, for its design, collecting to still use is futile. Its all about emulation. I have the games either sealed or complete in box that I enjoy, but I will be using emulation in the future to play them. Digital only is a bad idea, and thank goodness people have dumped the ROMs so that all this isn't lost. I was in an arcade and they had a Tempest with a joystick and a flat screen. Atrocious. The sadest thing is vector games will be gone forever because nobody makes those X-Y monitors anymore. Yes you can emulate but without the REAL spinner, and the monitor, it ain't the same. Enjoy all of it while you can, because your grandkids, grandkids, won't be able to experience any of this first hand.
