This thing's always been a joke. If you want something like this, just pick up the Intellivision Amico. It's real and looks pretty cool. People have actually played one also.
Man. This is a tough pill to swallow in many regards as my original Master System is still working but I know it won't last forever. I've seen plenty of toasted NES's and there are so many of them that I don't see issues in repairing them anytime soon. It's the more obscure stuff that worries me. TG-16 and Duo, Master System, Neo Geo AES and the handhelds too. Game Gear, Lynx, Wonder Swan and Neo Geo Pocket Color. Let's hope Analogue or somebody keeps recreating all of these machines into the future.
I found a website that restores Game Gears and Nomads. The Game Gears are beautiful with LCD screens, painted shells, rechargeable batteries installed with a charging port and mods done for better capacitors and speakers. They do stuff similar to Nomads. Of course the price is reflective for the work that's been done but if you want the best way to play Sega Games officially and portably, it's the best solution I've found.

Re: Feature: Take A Tour Of The UK's Most Incredible Retro Game Store
Great write up. If I'm ever in York I'll be in Sore Thumbs for sure. I would love to have a boxed Panasonic Gamecube. That's just unreal.
