@kerplunk what turned me off were the shipping and duty fees getting this outside of the US. I was on the Playdate bandwagon getting updates via email and theor twitter account but it would have cost me rougly $25-40 more to get it to the EU & I couldn't justify paying over $200 for this. I have a US address as well but didn't like this lack of transparency, so keep an eye on the price as it will likely be above the $179 (and the protector looks awesome). Hope that potent for extra cost gets covered on this article!
@GumbyX84 lol nah, look at how other CEOs of company's talk & then look at the responses here. I've sat in on quarterly stock review meetings & most CEOs just BS there way through it and don't even show any humanity in their work. Secondly, look at the amount of work that has been put in to launch their product for a small business like theirs. If you compare it to the nightmare that is Atari VCS, these guys are doing pretty damn good with 100k consoles preordered. I just don't see all the reason for the hate. People are totally entitled to try & launch into a monopolistic console market, no need to make it harder. I also like the Playdate and the Evercade, does that mean I can't support them either? I think it's great we have all of these companies try things out & attempt to break into the mainstream. It can only be good for us gamers & for consumers. I love Nintendo but don't always agree with their business tactics either soooo...yeah. Definitely not paid
Hey this guy did a great job in the interview. He addressed all the criticism, talks about the strengths of the product and had a genuine passion for it so I don't get why all the hate. They'll hit their breakeven pretty quickly, so they will for sure make money on this. In fact, I'm going to pre-order the wood grain version of this. I just had a few friends over & trying to casually play games with them on the Switch was a bit of a struggle. Super Mario World was too difficult, Sonic Mania was fun but a struggle. I own about 130+ games on Switch and love it, but easy pick up and play is a bit tricky because for me, I'm skilled at nearly every game on my console but forget basic platforming games can be absolutely intimidating and difficult for someone who never plays games (Donkey Kong country's difficulty for example). Towerfall ended up being the best game for us, simple, low graphics, few buttons. Overcooked is too stressful for newbies, but fun for gamers with moderate experience. Idk but I see his points & the product looks great. The games don't look like what I own on Switch (Raiden V, Resident Evil(s), Super Smash, Ys Lacrimosa, DB Fighterz, Super bomberman, puyo puyo tetris, etc etc etc), but I can see the mass appeal. I think as Nintendo gamers, we sometimes forget not everybody wants to or likes the games we do. Anyway, great interview & good job handling those questions. That's more open an interview and more honest than anything you'll hear come out of Doug Bowser's mouth or PlayStation's boss, so give this guy a break. Let him follow his passion & let's see what the devs can do.
Pocket Go is awesome! Have the v1, about the size of a GB Micro. Not everything is perfect but definitely beats a $100+ GB Micro. Best bang for the buck at €35. Recommend checking it out for anyone interested in old classics not available on the eShop.

Re: We're Getting A New Shining Force Game, But Of Course There's A Catch
Wow those fight sequences look wayyy better than I thought they would and also really stick to the Shining Force formula
Re: We're Getting A New Shining Force Game, But Of Course There's A Catch
Good for them, hope they can reach a larger audience this way
