@RubyCarbuncle I live in Northern Ireland and was raised speaking Irish. So that's why I'm interested, it's my language and culture regardless of an arbitrary border. I'm sorry you had bad experiences with Irish in school. I'm glad I didn't learn it in school. I hated the guts of it when I was forced to speak it.

@RubyCarbuncle If you want actual cool Irish-language media that's not made for old boomers, listen to Kneecap. They're a Belfast rap duo that mix Irish and English to make songs that are funny, accessible to English speakers, and are actually genuinely good songs that make Irish an interesting language. You might not see the point of translating a Pokemon game into Irish, but you can see the point of rhyming Irish & English words together on a rap song talking about the state of the country today.

So yeah, I lose a bit of HP when someone here calls it a "dead language", because yeah, there's something to that sure, but it's something worth fixing if you want more genuinely fresh & engaging irish art.
