Re: Community Challenge: Can You Beat Battletoads' Most Notorious Level?

Moroboshi876

Like others mentioned, I was able to beat it on Game Boy as a kid. Since I can't on NES on Rare Replay I assumed that the GB version was slightly easier, but it could just be me that I'm rusty.

Anyway, I do remember getting to later stages and struggling with the snake one. Maybe I used the Game Genie, I honestly can't remember.

But obnoxious as Turbo Tunnel is, it's kind of addictive, isn't it?

Re: After A Year Of Radio Silence, My Arcade's Sega Mini-Arcades Are Coming This Year

Moroboshi876

Anyway, I kinda feel that this is a huge downgrade coming from Astro City Mini. They should have made the first one with more games or now a third one with the remaining interesting ones and even more obscure titles mixed too. I love that the Egret II Mini can be expanded with the SD slot, it started with 40 games and now they're 90. I didn't mind buying the second Astro City Mini with vertical games. Would prefer a third one than these toy-like devices, even if I end up buying one or two.

One year after my comments, I almost forgot about these things. Anyway, I'll consider some of them, but not all. Mainly Out Run, with the Outrunners arcade being available for the first time at home. It's not that it hasn't been ported as it incorrectly says in the article. It got ported to Mega Drive, for better or worse. Emulated arcades on consoles don't make them less arcade-only, since they're not ports. They're exactly the same, only emulated.

Re: The Company Behind Arcade Archives Is Teasing Something Big For Its 500th Release

An expensive license with an expensive price tag for sure.

About Ms. Pac-Man, it can be done. It's a matter of Namco not wanting to pay for the inclusion of what considers to be theirs in any collection. Hamster could. Not sure about this game being THE game for the 500th release though.

But it would be nice of them to do a 50% off across the entire line-up as a celebration, wouldn't it?

Re: Turrican And Taito Collections Are Coming To Evercade

Moroboshi876

Looking forward to the Turrican Collection especially, it's Turrican Anthology but on one cart, which is great. Missed chance to include Game Boy and C64 versions, though. And this time there isn't a 1 in the cart name. Not that it would have been a warranty of more carts to come, after all the Evercade has several Collection 1 without a 2.

@slider1983 @JoakimZ As in the Turrican collections for Switch and PS4, the Turricans without a Mega or a Super in their name are the Amiga versions!

As for Taito 3, it overlaps heavily with the Egret II Mini again, but has the first Puzzle Bobble, that I have on Switch but I'd love to have for the Alpha, so I'll wait for a sale on this one.

Re: Review: Rare Collection 1 (Evercade) - 12 Classics From A Legendary British Studio

Moroboshi876

It's definitely less value for money than Rare Replay, which I own and enjoy a lot still nowadays, but yes, the portability is a good point here, and let's face it: most Evercade fans will buy any cart for completion reasons anyway.

I doubted a little initially because I already have 11 of 12 games on a much better package, but I'd like to play them on the go, so I preordered already. And the Conker portable adventure kind of justifies it.

We can expect more overlapping on upcoming -and already confirmed, although without titles announced- Rare Collection volumes.

Re: Review: Taito Arcade 1 (Evercade) - A Welcome Refresher On One Of Coin-Op Gaming's Greatest

Moroboshi876

I'm not going to buy it because that would diminish the "value" of my Egret II Mini in terms of comparisons with the Alpha, but I'm happy that Taito has come to the Evercade family.

Anyway, it's a bit strange that they release these 2 carts yet the upcoming Taito bartop's built-in games are all in them, except from Puzzle Bobble. That is a strange move by Blaze definitely. I know the greatness of the Alphas are the cartridge slots, but built-in games make us decide for one model or another, don't they? If you want Taito cartridges AND the new bartop, it will be as if you bought the console with no games inside.

Re: Game Changer: Donkey Kong II Game & Watch - My First Ever Taste Of Video Games

Moroboshi876

Great feature. It somewhat mirrors my own experience. I had an MSX at home since I remember, but on school days I wasn't allowed to play it and had to settle for LCD machines. One day someone gave me the Donkey Kong II Game & Watch as a birthday present I guess, and that was to the rest of my LCD systems what Neo Geo was for 8 and 16 bit consoles.

Over time, the Game Boy arrived and I coldly but understandably abandoned Donkey Kong II, but many years later I felt a newfound love for all things retro and looked for it. Today I still have the G&W in my nightstand drawer.

Re: Forget Nintendo Switch, You Probably Own A Great Way To Play Virtual Boy Games Already

Moroboshi876

I've not been a fan of illegal ways to play games over the years, I've tried it and it doesn't give me the same satisfaction as purchasing and owning the software. And in Nintendo 3DS it wasn't different, but once the possibility to acquire games on the eShop was gone, I decided to download some games, only a handful actually, that I really wanted but couldn't get legally even when the eShop was still working, namely Japanese ones because of the surprising and absurd exception of the region free policy with portable systems that affected the 3DS.

Anyway, I always thought the absence of a Virtual Boy Console in the 3DS was a huge missed opportunity, there hasn't ever been a console more fitting for those games. So when the news about this emulator surfaced, I knew it was time to finally hack my good old 3DS.

@RupeeClock Does that mean that the emulator has an update? How can I access it? I've not touch the 3DS in a while now. What are the steps to put it to 50 Hz? Thanks in advance!

Re: Review: Neo Geo Arcade 1 (Evercade) - A Bold, If Familiar, Debut For SNK On Blaze's System

Moroboshi876

I know that these games are available elsewhere, I have dozens on the Switch myself, but I love the fact that this way they can be played on the Evercade Alpha, which is effing great. And for the asked price it's more than OK to me. Besides, the always surprising Evercade game selections mean that some of the games on the three (for now) announced cartridges are totally new for me. Even if they're not top 10. Evercade fans are use to that, and I love discovering not that typical games. Mixed with some absolute gems, the formula is a winner.

Re: Rare And The ZX Spectrum Are Coming To Evercade

Moroboshi876

My first thought was "well, I have 11 of these 12 games in the Rare Replay wonderful collection", but then I realized that I would have them on the go.

Sometimes I double dip, sometimes I don't, depending on several factors. I won't be buying the Taito cartridges because I already have those games on miniaturized cabinet form in the Egret II Mini, but this Rare cartridge gives me portability on games I love but for now I have bound to a TV screen.
