@somnambulance it gained some worldwide media attention because of the kid who got the game to crash due the first time ever. That probably got more people interested in playing it.
@TransmitHim it's less of a moded version and more of a bug fixed version. They only fixed the bug that causes the game to crash under certain very late stage situations. Most people can't even dream of getting to a high enough level to make the un patched version of the game crash.
