It's worth noting that the main reason why Valve went a decade without releasing any games is because they were busy creating Source 2, which had an infamously rough dev period. That's why they were silent on the software front for years. This article also doesn't note that since completing Source 2, they've released Half-Life Alyx (a full-blown VR game with a proper campaign) along with a couple smaller DOTA side projects and some VR/Steam Deck tech demos, and on top of all that, they're currently developing a major overhaul of CSGO for Source 2. Valve's back to making games now. I'd imagine it's only a matter of time before they return to Aperture for a proper game again, even if it's not necessarily a Portal 3.
@DoctorOverbuild I'm seeing people make comments about it, and at this point, I can't tell if they're real spoilers or just people making jokes... I'm hoping for the latter, since what I'm hearing is really big. I'll find out in a few hours, but it still sucks.
