Re: Feature: You Know What? The GamesMaster Reboot Is An Unexpected Delight

@johnvboy I just don't see the issue, to be honest. As someone else mentioned, the same-sex couple were gamers and the non-binary contestant was a games tester, so it didn't feel particularly forced to me. And even if the diversity angle is forced, I just don't know why people get so angry about it. Imagine getting so worked up about a same-sex couple or someone who identifies as non-binary appearing on a TV show. Someone seemed to suggest that the show went out of its way to mention the two women were a couple. Why wouldn't they mention that they're a couple? There's nothing unusual about that.

Agreed! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think the co-hosts are the weakest links... They come across as cringe (but maybe the original hosts did and I'm blinded by nostalgia... Still love Dominik Diamond though!) and the commentary was pretty weak. However, regardless, I thought the show was great. It really nailed the tone and style I wanted from it and Trevor McDonald is perfect as the new GamesMaster.

Re: Poll: Did You Know That GoldenEye Had A Dual-Analogue Control Option On N64?

@Damo It might not be common knowledge now in 2020 (especially as you might have some younger people within your audience), but I THOUGHT it was common knowledge in the 90s when it came out. I might be wrong, but I do seem to remember it being mentioned in the UK's N64 magazine. And as someone else stated, it is right there in the settings... then again, it wouldn't surprise me if many people did miss it since nearly all my friends played with the default controls instead of switching to the superior configuration that mapped forward/backward movement plus strafing to the C buttons, and 360 aiming to the stick.

Re: Hardware Review: Terraonion MODE - The Ultimate Upgrade For Your Saturn And Dreamcast?

@Zeropulse @Damo Thanks both for the replies. I have both a Saturn and Dreamcast, so at some point down the road I hope to pick up something like this. I do have three working Dreamcasts lying around, but you never know when all those disc drives will begin to break (I already had my launch model die on me just over a decade ago).

It seems like a bit of a pain swapping this out of the Dreamcast and Saturn and switching between them though. I'd probably rather just have two and have them fitted in seperate consoles with seperate hard drives. But yeah, that would be pricey... Fortunately more of these alternatives are turning up and they are slowly getting cheaper. A GDemu isn't too expensive these days, for example.

@TG16_IS_BAE No, it's physically a different thing. It was a proprietary format exclusive to the Dreamcast. It stands for Giga-disc as each disc holds 1.1gb of data (if I remember correctly). Sega opted for it as, at the time, it was much cheaper than the DVD format, but still provided more storage than a standard CD.

GD-Rom drives were only used for the Dreamcast as far as I know. The Dreamcast's discs cannot be read by a standard disc drive. Hence ripping games was always more complicated than it was on other disc based formats.

Re: Hands On: Retro Fighters Follows Up Its Superb Brawler64 Pad With The StrikerDC For Dreamcast

@RushDawg No, it's mostly just designed to feel like a modern controller first and foremost. They wanted it to feel more comfortable to hold and create something similar to current pads, with a nice modern analogue stick. The D-pad and face buttons are improved too. The shoulder buttons are better than the original controller's analogue triggers for fighters, but obviously not as good as a 6 button set up.
