I backed issue 2 and it’s wonderful. Missed out on the first though and have backed the Kickstarter to make amends! Yes the special editions are expensive, but they’re also really lovely and I’m happy to pay the premium.
Would rather have a Saturn mini but Dreamcast would be cool too. Wonder if there'd be a slightly redesigned controller with built in screen, or if they'd just axe that completely? Trouble is the lineup is very unlikely to please everyone.
SG1000 / Master System would be kinda cool too but definitely doesn't carry the same appeal globally. Very niche.
I reaaaaaally, really want one, but that price is just out too far out of my reach at the moment, sadly. One day maybe. Great review overall but one thing I would have liked to see in the video was the visual filters used with the 3D games as well as the 2D example.
Main thing for me is the Saturn emulation as I've been debating buying one of these or modding an original console, so things I'd like to know are:
Can you turn on 60hz whenever you want for PAL games? Can you use original Saturn controllers? How does the Polymega compare to using an original Saturn with an HDMI cable? Is it seriously £499 in the UK for the base unit?
Definitely interested in the Polymega purely for the Saturn support, so I'm really hoping it works as well as the previews suggest. I've got a fairly extensive Saturn collection but the discs have a shelf life and I've had a few start to fail on me, so the idea of backing them up to an SSD with accurate emulation sounds very enticing indeed. But - I think I'm going to wait until the first units are out in the wild before I take the plunge.
It looks great on the video but I still have a lot of unanswered questions about the Saturn compatibility, namely whether PAL games run in 50 or 60hz, and whether you can use games that require the 4mb RAM cartridge.
I'll be waiting for reviews, but if they can get Saturn games working nicely with full import compatibility and 4mb RAM games included then I am so, so in.
Great review and I'd really, really love to get one. £100 is way too much for me right now though, especially as I know I'd have to buy two controllers for it. If it goes on sale a bit lower than that I'd be very tempted though.

Re: Hardware Review: Game Gear Micro - Go Home Sega, You're Drunk
Interesting novelty, but no way would I ever drop £40-50 on one. Oh well.

I'd love to try one out but there's absolutely no way I'm pre-ordering.

Re: Polymega Answers Critics With 25 Minutes Of Sega Saturn Gameplay Footage
@Anti-Matter $250 for the base unit (including CD drive) and a controller. All the info is on their website, which is linked in the article.

Re: Hardware Review: Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio Plus
Would love to buy a system like this but the 50hz issue is an immediate dealbreaker for me, absolutely no way I'd consider it without a 60hz toggle.

@Alex16J Saturn support would be an instant day one buy for me, as my oh-so-transparent username may suggest...

Wow, this sounds really tempting. Never heard of the Polymega before but definitely interested. Gonna go look it up now...
