I couldn't be bothered to stay up until 2am UK for the launch, but by 8am that morning, there were still founders edition units remaining, although only the black ... which was fortunate in a way, as it saved me agonising over whether I should get that or the translucent blue version. I had expected them to be all sold out by that point, but when I saw it available, I just couldn't resist. I was tempted to wait and see what Analogue will do, but maybe they will tackle Saturn next, rather than PS1. I also put down a deposit for the base unit. Also, like another commenter, have an Analogue 3D coming. I really like that all this retro hardware is coming out. It's like a dream come true.
@Electric-Boomer I don't know why America bothers with things like a justice system, juries or evidence gathering, when they could just ditch it all and let you decide who's guilty or innocent, all from the comfort of your armchair, at home. What's the world coming to?
I too received the "update your shipping address" email, and I initially felt really positive about it ... I mean ... after all this time, even Playmaji wouldn't use such a ruse to drum up more orders, would they? Despite being really interested in the Polymega, I was wary of ordering, in light of all the problems and delays, and the lack of communication, but when 2021 rolled around and Polymega officially became a retail product, and Nintendo Life published an article, I decided to place an order. That was back in December 2021. I have yet to receive anything. Despite their latest promises, I'm clearly not going to receive even as much as an email this year. Don't go thinking you can just request a refund if your patience runs out, either. I sent two emails, one of which was sent back in April, requesting a refund. My refund request only received a response in October, when I was told that shipping was likely set to occur before years end, and that I could still request a refund if I wanted one, which I had already done ... twice. Playmaji is keeping your money, whether you get anything in return or not. All I have for the £450 I paid them over two years ago is three emails. I would say to any potential customer, go ahead and order from Playmaji if you want, but only if you're happy to receive nothing in return for your money. That way, you won't be disappointed.
@Axelay71 I'm in the UK and can confirm that Polymega is available to order directly from the official website for delivery here. I only placed my order this month, it was around £400 including delivery for the base unit and controller only. According to their website, orders should ship in the first half of 2022. I'm hoping, but I wouldn't be surprised if the wait turns out to be much longer than that. Feel lucky?
The game I'm wondering about is Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Why did that never get a rerelease, in direct contrast to pretty much every other entry in the series, except for MGS4? Let's blame Nintendo.
I'd be interested in a physical Switch release, sadly it seems there's little chance of that. On a side note, does anyone else think the top photo looks like Dreamcast Guy? It's almost as if they could be related.
@Meteoroid Why are they diabolical? The answer lies in experience of large parts of the industry telling us that, if the concept behind this system were to spread, it would likely be used to undermine traditional physical game ownership even further more than it would be used to enhance solely digital "ownership".
@Damo This system using physical media is just marketing. Yes, I did read the article. All these cards appear to address is the issue of downloads being transferable, but just like any other digital library it is reliant on the servers. Once the servers are shut down, the physical media is useless. It's no better or more physical than a digital library with Sony, Microsoft or Steam, and if I had to put money on whose servers will be running longest, it wouldn't be Tommy Tallarico's.
The company behind this is shady. They maintain radio silence on their website, two polite enquiries I made were never answered, and the only time they have much to say is when they're criticised on social media or youtube. Blaming Walmart really wasn't a good look either. I was interested in their console as soon as I saw/heard of it, but their offering has been progressively downgraded, first the Polymega would use FGPA (it doesn't) also it was apparently going to support native streaming (it doesn't). The price is ridiculous, but worse than that it's just vaporhardware, if there is such a thing. The company are always asking for more money, but have never delivered anything, maybe outside of the lightgun or controllers. Search for a review and the only reviews you will find anywhere are with partners or those who have been supplied a review unit. As a consumer product, it has never existed.
I find it believable that Nintendo would block Goldeneye being remade for competing platforms. I've long held a suspicion about the fate of another title, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. The rights situation for that game can't be anywhere near as complicated, so why has it never seen a rerelease? I have a suspicion that Nintendo doesn't want it seeing the light of day on other consoles, so it will never be seen again anywhere. Counting against Nintendo being to blame is the similar fate of MGS4, which has also never resurfaced. Let's just blame Nintendo and Konami equally.

It looks cool, but it should really be a phone too.

Re: Review: RAD2X Is The Only HDMI Cable You Need For Your Retro Consoles
Honestly, £53.99 per cable isn't really competitively priced compared to an OSSC.

I live in the UK, so this is about as relevant as the Polymega.
