@mjparker77 It's a weird and frustrating game, but also very scary and dripping with atmosphere. I played through it a few times back in 2004, but I have not felt compelled to return to it since then.
I'd say this game is only for those who have already played SH 1 thru 3 and are still hungry for more. Definitely would not consider it a good starting point for the series.
30 years! Wow. Glad to see it get some love from another developer. The comparison of Star Fox and Panzer Dragoon was always interesting to me, like a microcosm defining what sets Sega's flavor of games apart from Nintendo's.
I wouldn't mind if that Zwei remake stays missing, however. Forever's PD1 remake failed to capture the atmosphere of the original and the art design felt cheap and occasionally garish. It left me feeling like a new generation was being given the wrong impression of the game and missing what made the original special.
@smoreon Ha, it was a VERY popular take in the 90's. But mostly coming from the vast non-gaming population looking in at the strange culture that was forming.
But I would agree that the more specific idea of Gamers thinking Gamers are losers was ahead of its time. He was truly an innovator.
Regardless of motive, the fact that Gioeli feels confident enough to pursue this speaks volumes of Sega's legal practices at the time.
It's just another example to join Ken Penders's claim for ownership of some of the US comic book characters and whatever legal nightmare caused them to lock up Sonic 3 for decades before finally removing Michael Jackson's music.
@Ristar24 I had the same feeling with this and also Resident Evil. There were several other series too, with PS1 sequels that the Saturn never got to see. As a kid with a Sega Saturn, I think many (dozens!) of us share the strange sensation of realizing our console of choice was a sinking ship!
