Good timing! I’ve recently been bingeing on Jaguar: Tempest 2000, Iron Soldier, and Super Burnout, all excellent, with some Val D’Isere Skiing and Snowboarding on the side. It’s a neat system that I wish had survived just a little longer.
That was a fun approach to the article, to compare porting arcade games to old hardware to the modern trend of demakes. I can't stress enough how underpowered consoles and computers were next to arcade machines before the 90s! You'd be lucky if it even sorta resembled the arcade version. BTW, the ZX and C64 versions of R-Type are also mad feats. Somehow R-Type got lucky and every crew who ported it was really competent/had enough time/resources! Definitely unusual for the era.
