The previous update v1.1 (released back in the fall) did address wide laser shots passing through enemies, so that should be consistent now. If there are issues beyond that I'd be happy to chat in the playdate discord about it and look through videos of issues if you see any persisting post v1.1.
One additional note, the wide laser's hitbox is deliberately a bit generous, as a reprieve for players struggling.
