Time Extension belives that bylines provide both credit for authors and transparency for you. Our Bylines Policy explains our approach to bylines and why we believe they are important.

What Are Bylines?

The vast majority of the articles you’ll find on Time Extension are written by a single author. You’ll always be able to find the name of that author, known as "the byline", just beneath the article’s subtitle, which itself can be found just below the headline.

Why Are Bylines Important?

Bylines are helpful for readers and authors alike. First, they connect an author’s credibility, experience and expertise to their article, which helps our readers have confidence in the accuracy of the reporting.

Bylines impart a natural sense of accountability to our articles too, which deepens the trust between our authors and our readers. Every author on Time Extension will also have an individual author profile page. Clicking on a byline will take you to that author's profile page so you can find out more about them and their other work on Time Extension.

Just as importantly, though, bylines give both our full-time staff and freelancers the credit they deserve for their hard work and expertise.

Time Extension is committed to retaining the bylines of authors wherever possible; they are part of our history, and we aim to keep every article we have ever published online for as long as possible.

What About Articles With Multiple Authors?

Some of our articles are written by more than just one author. When this happens, the names of everyone involved in writing the article will be included in the byline.

If different authors are involved in different sections of the article, this may be explained further within the text of the article itself.

Otherwise, responsibility for the content is shared equally between those authors named in the byline.

Does Time Extension Ever Publish "Anonymous" Articles?

Time Extension will very occasionally publish articles using the "Time Extension Staff" byline. This author name is used whenever we’re writing on behalf of Time Extension as a whole, such as sharing business-related announcements with our community or running competitions on the site. We also use this byline for articles where we use the collective opinion of our readership such as 'Best Game' lists which are ranked using community data.

Articles that use this byline represent Time Extension as an entity rather than the reporting or opinions of individual authors.
