So many great projects for the Mega Drive, and I really enjoyed the demo for the Mega Drive. I'm impressed with the hard work being put in by people, for free, for us to enjoy.
I'm not a fan of the comparison people make against the SNES version though as people seem to miss the ROM size limit imposed by the cost of manufacturing at the time. The original SNES Final Fight ROM was 1MB in size, this incomplete demo is already more than double that.
No one in surprised unfortunately, we've all seen them, plenty of them as well, they really defend their actions too, saying the person who is the target should toughen up. As if they have to endure them while creating wonderful things for them and others.
People keep saying audio is from this or that source, a lot of audio is from asset packs, even back in the day. You could purchase CDs and tapes with a collection of royalty free audio samples for any project, game developers wouldn't have try and make their own. Why you and I hear sound effects we associate with games we played, I keep hearing sound effects used in Daggerfall, like the bat "eee" sound FX.
@RetroGames Being the most powerful console, or more powerful than a competitor doesn't really mean much. I think the majority of us buy consoles to play games, if we get enjoyment out of the game, then the system has done well. If we don't like the game selection, then the console failed.
I personally don't understand the whole feeling pride about a corporations success when you don't work there. I don't get why it's so terrible to not be the best selling console or game of a generation, sometimes the best selling game hasn't appealed to me while a small indie game really hits the mark. We have so many car companies out there, there is a best selling or most profitable car company, but I wouldn't feel some sense of pride if my car happened to be the brand of one of the best selling cars, I don't feel the same for consoles either.
How many times has the most powerful console been the most successful for its generation?
Intellivison was more powerful than the Atari 2600. Master System was more powerful than the NES, Neo Geo was more powerful than the SNES, N64 was more powerful than the PlayStation, XBox was more powerful than the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 was more powerful than the Wii, PlayStation 4 is more powerful than the Switch.
@Athropos Yoshi Island runs on the SNES and uses the SFX chip to do some calculations when needed, while Doom / Star Fox runs on the SFX chip and uses the SNES for audio, joystick input, UI, and video out. Second scenario is equivalent to using a Raspberry Pi in the cartridge, even back then, however, back then you got enhanced games for 10 dollars more instead of getting a new system.
@hste it isn't and I agree. You could stick a raspberry pi in a cartridge to do a similar thing but get even better visuals. Just let the SNES stream the game and play it at 20fps.
Good on stenzek. You can see the toxicity in this hobby everywhere, even here on these comments. stenzek spare time doesn't need to fulfill the demands on those who believe they are entitled to have others dance to their insults and threats. I like DiskStation, I look forward to future improvements.
I like these kind of projects and I love the original Doom music.
I will say that with the simplified SNES Doom levels, the tragic SNES Doom visuals, and the awful SNES Doom performance, I think the original fart like music of the SNES Doom fits.

Re: Random: Crazy Modder Adds A CRT Screen To The Game Boy
Great stuff, though I'm now wondering if two of those CRTs could be used for a VR headset.
