@Nua I don't blame you. Part of this goal of this mod that I set out to accomplish is to provide a good mod to the game, since most existing hacks are just lame color palette changes or tracks that havent been put too much thought into them.
@garfreek it should. I used to test this hack on a snes mini at one point to play with a friend to test the battle mode tracks.
@Coalescence SMK Uses the DSP-1 Chip, so It might not work.
Thanks for the highlight! Hope people enjoy it! Just released a patch to version 1.1 that addresses some issues reported. If you see any other ones that might require fixing, send them my way 🙏
@GhaleonUnlimited I see. Personally, I haven't seen any HD CRT since those didn't reached here where I live, but I assume the issue you encountered was due to playing melee in 480i, which HD CRT need to convert them to 480p, as that's the minimun resolution it accepts (AFAIK it's fine with 480p and up)
And yeah, I agree, I recently got a retro tink 5x and looking forward to use my PS2 with it.
@GhaleonUnlimited not really. Only for consoles that display 240p & 480i.
HD CRTs are great for consoles that can output 480p and up.
If the console only outputs 480i or below, then yeah, it's better to get an older model, but it also depends, as it seems some HD CRTs can actually still handle the old resolutions just fine.
In this case, it can be done with gamecube component cables and games that support 480p.
Looks great! My gamecube lens is already dead; so this one would be cool.
Now, people are mentioning that a WIi is easier; so there are a couple of things. If you want to use the gameboy player, then you need a gamecube. If you have an upscaler to play on modern TVs, the gamecube produces a sharper image than the Wii.
But agreed, it's just better to use a Wii overall; cheaper component cables and a great assortment of games from multiple consoles you can play.
Not really feeling it; they mention no openFPGA support. The N64 isn't really that nostalgic for me. I rather have a PS1 FPGA console instead 🤔 (RIP Discs tho)
But i know that N64 games are hard to emulate properly so using this with an everdrive might be cool.
@VideoGameBoy completely agree. I've been working on this Super Mario Kart Rom hack that is close to release for over a decade and that's just the gist of it... hobby and love for the game as well as the community to give something else to play.
I think the best reward once can get is seeing other people that love the game as you do enjoy it too!
Yo, this looks pretty sweet! I will play it on console on a CRT; wonder how it looks there. Always great seeing a fully complete hack that changes about everything.
Seems like there is a NES game; will start on that one on my Analogue pocket and then jump to this.
Honestly the wait was worth it. I failed to get it when it was released, them we had to wait on the pandemic and when we finally placed our order , wait another year.
This is the go to way to play GB(C) games! GBA for the better sound too, but I rather take my modded SP or Micro when I go on trips.
The extra cores are really neat too; been testing my SMK mod on this and it looks and plays great.
My only gripe is how they redid the "original GBA" screen mode; I like the less saturated one before the update.
Well, makes sense, but you have to wonder, is the breaking point in any relevant time span?
But dunno, SD2SNES would be the one to get anyway, since NES is dirty cheap to emulate in almost everywhere,
Still, interesting read, I'll keep this in mind when choosing what cart to get :>
Yep. I knew beforehand that starfox adventures was originally a game called "dinosaur planet"
There is also a few unused dinosaur planet stuff(mostly text & voice clips) lingering in the game archives.
Nice read BTW

Yo, I really like the famicom version!
It's hot swappable as well, so thats great.
Re: Best Pokémon ROM Hacks And Fan Games
Pokemon unbound is great! Really enjoyed that one.
Haven't played Prism as I don't have an RTC FlashCart yet, but looking forward to it.
Playing these hacks on Analogue Pocket feels great!
Re: The Dreamcast Could Be Getting Its Own FPGA Core
I need the NAOMI core too! I've been wanting to play Monkey Ball Arcade for years now.
