Re: I've Just Resurrected This Zelda Scratch Card Game From 1989

Series 1 had Yellow wrappers. Series 2 had Blue wrappers. I don't know where Series 2 came out, but I'm guessing only in Canada, as the wrapper text is both in English and French, and the company is OPC, or Oh-Pee-Chi. They have some history with Topps.

There is an ebay listing that has all the cards pictured:

That seller also has all the Series 1 cards.

Re: Why MiniDisc, Sony's Precursor To The PSP UMD, Is Still Alive In 2023

MD is my favorite format. I’ve bought sooo many over the last 5 years, it’s hard to count them. And they still run great on my old MZ-R37 portable recorder that I bought more than 20 years ago. My love for MD was definitely reinvigorated with the boom healthily fueled by UK based Timeslave and sister label MyPetFlamingo and many more Future Funk, Vaporwave, Mallsoft, naturesoft and all sorts of other genres and artists from around the world. Most of my rarest music is on this format.

You can buy bulk packages from Japan of 100’s of MDs that have already been recorded on. What is recorded on them? Who knows! But they are a neat time warp to grab a random one, pop it in and see what you get. I have a bunch that are recorded radio shows from Japan in the 90’s and 2000’s. Some are classical music. Some are full albums.

Band CDs is a great company to get custom albums of your music made. Many of the indie artists releasing on MD now are using them as they bought a ton of that new-old stock of Sony Neige MD’s and they UV print on them. And every single one is an amazing piece of art both to listen to and to look at.

Another fun tidbit, Radiohead released a compilation in 2019 for 18 days called MiniDiscs (Hacked). Supposedly, they had around 16 hours of demos and unreleased tracks backed up on minidiscs and those were being held for ransom. In response to that, Radiohead just released it all.
