@solarstriker yeah these modern emulation machines don't have a card slot, but you can pick up a modded gba-sp ipsv2 for cheap on ebay which i gladly discovered recently!
@DanTheSausage best design is the psp go imo still have mine
@glaemay i wouldn't even say 10 years, they have disc drives which don't last as long as cartridges, modern consoles have more tech behind them, much harder to fix e.t.c
@RetiredR and preservation is important.
@Nickolaidas backwards compatibility is very important too but a lot of people seem to think it's not, this article is a good reason why we need backwards compatibility still.
@Muddy_4_Ever I agree, emulating is the key here, when the original hardware is no longer available it's only going to be emulating that we will be left with to play the old games that we grew up with.
modern day consoles are a different matter, firmware updates, reliance on the Internet to run and games no longer functining and requiring day one patches to even start imo I think in the long run modern gaming is worst than vintage, 30 years time will our ps4 games and consoles be functioning like vintage games will be? vintage games don't have that kind of reliance/tether that modern day gaming has, also modern day consoles are not built to last anymore, the fact that he brought up planned obsolescence is a important point, these new consoles are not designed to last in the long run that is for sure.
@BitLounger ah, i remember that but nothing more came of it, it was a cool device and i even wanted one as it plays real carts, it's a shame we haven't heard anything since about it.
@CharlieSmile my psp 3000 does the same thing and it plays gba games and it has a better screen too, this really is a novelty item for retro enthusiasts i guess.

Re: Feature: 25 Years Ago, Nintendo Took On The Might Of Street Fighter With Killer Instinct
@Xylnox and i still play killer instinct on the n64 once in a while, it's a classic it's a shame it will never return back to nintendo consoles.

@tekknik are they really that much now? crazy, i'm wondering how much a PSP go must go for as i have one of those too.
and it's a shame about your ps3 blu ray, sony are well known when it comes to any disc drives (DRE on ps2 for example)
