Re: GameCube Gets Achievements Thanks To The Dolphin Emulator

KitsuneNight

@Sketcz @Andee
I find achievements pointless, meaningless, wastes of time that do absolutley nothing for me.

If others like the virtual ass pats for doing the most mundane tasks in a game, like booting the game, or beating the first chapter , then good for them I suppose.

But they do nothing for me and generally speaking I ignore them.

The only "use" and i use that term loosely, they may have is to see how many gamers reach certain points and finish their games .

But other then that they are virtual knick knacks.

Re: The "Worst PlayStation RPG Ever" Is Getting A Fan Translation

KitsuneNight

@Starless Because quite frankly it got @SnowyAria 's attention and she wants to tackle it and bring it to the attention of more people, because its an endearingly dorky game made with the best intentions ?

That's my best guess, she can shed more light on the thing.

And most quirky and unusual untranslated games are still for the most part from Japan.

No it's more like it's so bad its hilarious.
So inept that all you can do is point and laugh at its many faults.

Like MST3K did with many many many terrible ( or dull ) movies.

The worst thing entertainment can do is be boring.

( mostly, crashing every 5 seconds leaking memory or destroying the contents of your hard drive if you uninstall it are pretty high up there as well )

@Blast16
No I generally dont care for manufactured hype or trailers or announcements of announcements of a trailer, that lasts 30 seconds for a product, thats still years away from release.

That doesnt generate interest for me it sabotages it.
I dont get interested in a product unless i can buy it right away or if the wait is short.

Like say 6 weeks or 2 months.

These attempts to generate hype and interest always fall flat for me.

Voltron ( 1985 ) is like Robotech a contraction of existing Japanese mecha shows
Beast King Golion ( 1981 ) and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV.
Originally WEP wanted to adpat Daltanious but due to a mix up ( the one with the lions ) they got GoLion instead

The rest uh, is as they say history.
Voltron season 1 features mostly Golion season 2 and the "movie" is made up from Dairugger.

Lightspeed Electroid Albegas was also supposed to be part of Voltron or the third Voltron but this never came to pass.

Lion Voltron was so popular it eclipsed Dairugger, and Toei was commissioned to animate new episodes.

Lion Voltron is in fact so popular, it eclipsed it's original Golion incarnation.
It's after all Voltron that endures 40 years hence, not Golion, or Dairugger or Albegas
Let alone Daltanious

Super Sentai has been around since 1975
But the version that was turned in to Power Rangers is the sixteenth series.
Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger , which is named Galaxy Rangers by Toei for international publishing.

Footage for Zyuranger has been used extensively for the first 3 Power Ranger seasons.

Power Rangers the IP these days is owned by Hasbro.
Toei owns the costumes props and original sentai versions

Re: The "Completely Uncut" Version Of Resident Evil Has Arrived On GOG

KitsuneNight

There is now a bundle as well
https://www.gog.com/en/game/resident_evil_bundle
You get Resi 1 and pre order 2 and 3.

( edit: bought the bundle, 2 and 3 are now part of my library with soon tags)

Moar edit: the game is the original, not Dir cut ( no arrange mode )
The opening FMV is in color and very much uncensored.
It's very crunchy though.
Tried an X One controller with it and it works fine.

Re: It's Insane How Much 'Zelda' Is On Switch, And That's Why It's Nintendo's Best Console

KitsuneNight

@Sketcz
It's a glorified rental.
If you go in like that is passable, just don't expect to own anything.
I got gamepass on my Xone X, i've played quite a few games i never would have bought before.
But I am under no illusions than that they are anything other then a rental.

At least they are upfront about it.
But if this is the future of gaming then i'll pass and fully retreat in to retro.

Re: Doom II Comes To The SNES, Thanks To Fans

KitsuneNight

@Blast16
Atari Doom was coded by Carmack himself. ( the engine at least )
And stripped down to work on a console
Almost all the other console ports are based on that one
3DO, GBA, Playstation and 32X are all derived from it.

It's less a port and a new master version
Stop skeletons from fighting has a decent set of vids about it

@Azuris
Think you got the replies for BulkSlash and me mixed up.
But no worries.

Passwords would have at least been something
At least there are save states around these days, but that doesn't help on real hardware or with fakerdrives*.

Re: Flashback: 24 Years Ago, The BBC Asked If Xbox Could Dethrone PlayStation

KitsuneNight

@Porco
The credit mostly is , i suppose anyway, for how they handled the RROD disaster.
Instead of burying it they owned up to it and replaced or fixed affected Xbox 360's free of charge
That cost them 1,15 billion.

That move garnered them and the Xbox brand a lot of good will.
Most of said good will evaporated on E3 2013.

Personally I am neutral about the Xbox.
I got a 360 it runs the games are cheap, that'll do me.

Re: Doom II Comes To The SNES, Thanks To Fans

KitsuneNight

And all of those versions were based on the Jag port.
Cause that was the first console port for some reason, and fairly stripped back.

The 3do Doom ...exists, that's the nicest thing i can say about it.
Least the SNES port tries and runs on ancient hardware even for 1993.
The 3do should have been able to handle Doom.
