@JonathanChapman Apparently the mini console they have announced is the "companion" device and there won't be a pro version.
I have considered getting a 4 Pro a few times, but I held off hoping the next version would be a bit more powerful...hopefully we'll get a full breakdown of the specs soon.
For many years I considered this the best game of all time. I put so many hours into this as a child, it's a truly incredible game. I think it more than holds up today even with all the nostalgia I have!
If you look at the top 100 games on Metacritic, 22 games are listed for Nintendo platforms:-
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) (1) 2. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) (6) 3. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) (7) 4. The Legend of Zelda: Beath of the Wild (Switch) (14) 5. Perfect Dark (N64) (16) 6. Metroid Prime (Gamecube) (19) 7. Super Mario Odyssey (Switch) (21) 8. The Legend of Zelda: Beath of the Wild (WiiU) (26) 9. Goldeneye 007 (N64) (28) 10. Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube) (30) 11. Portal Companion Collection (Switch) (34) 12. The House in Feta Morgana (Switch) (38) 13. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Gamecube) (39) 14. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS) (86) 22. Persona 5 Royal (Switch) (95)
@Damo I know what you mean about the Master System, I didn't have one but friends did, I'd get one if they released it! What about a Saturn?
the power on current SoCs has been mentioned for a few years as a problem, I don't keep up on the specs, but there will be a point in time where the power is there at the right price point, hopefully that's not too far away!
Do you think Nintendo would do an N64 if the financials made sense? Or are they now too focused on the Switch etc?
@Damo would you consider trying to interview a lawyer about this? It would be interesting to get some insight into what SEGA could be thinking and why some projects launch and some don't.
I have an original NES and Gamecube, but don't have the TV setup to play them, I'm going to get a Carby or something for my Gamecube at some point. At the moment I use modern mini retro concoles and my Switch.
I posted about this on Nintendo Life, I'd love to see Mr Gimmick in the announcement! I remember Pat The Nes Punk and Ian discussing a view question, which games would have been more popular if they had been published by Nintendo and Gimmick came up, their conclusion was we would still see Gimmick games today if Nintendo had published it...this is the video, skip to 7:30... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQrbO-_Gx4k

Re: Evercade Maker Blaze Is Releasing Two New Super Pocket Consoles This Year
@RadioHedgeFund I don't own any of the Evercade handheld, but if they ever did an SNK one with Metal Slug I would pick it up day one!!
Re: $38 'FlippyDrive' ODE Lets You Keep Your GameCube's Optical Drive
This looks great! Installing this and add a Carby and the Gamecube will be epic!
Re: Anniversary: Super Mario Bros. 3 Is Now 35 Years Old

Re: Shocking Study Reveals 87% Of Classic Games Are "Critically Endangered"
I'm not sure if using Titanic on VHS is the best analogy. I imagine most critically acclaimed classic games are not in the 87%.
What about the gaming equivalent of Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot with Sylvester Stallone or Mr Nanny with Hulk Hogan?!
Gaming preservation is important, but I think more context is needed.
Re: Best Nintendo Systems - Every Nintendo Console, Ranked By You
If you look at the top 100 games on Metacritic, 22 games are listed for Nintendo platforms:-
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) (1)

9. Goldeneye 007 (N64) (28)
10. Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube) (30)
11. Portal Companion Collection (Switch) (34)
12. The House in Feta Morgana (Switch) (38)
13. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Gamecube) (39)
14. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (Gamecube) (44)
15. The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition (Gamecube) (53)
16. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (GBA) (58)
17. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) (61)
18. Metroid Prime Remastered (Switch) (71)
19. Tetris Effect: Connected (Switch) (72)
20. World of Goo (Wii) (73)
21. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS) (86)
22. Persona 5 Royal (Switch) (95)
N64 = 3
Gamecube = 5
Wii = 4
Wii U = 1
Switch = 7
3DS = 1
GBA = 1
Now there are obviously gaps with earlier systems not getting reviews online.
Re: "We Basically Had To Bribe The Producers" - The Origin Of EA Sports
Really interesting read! There are loads of interesting stories around EA...FIFA vs PES was huge in the early 2000's

Re: Best Mini Classic Consoles
I have five of these! (NES, SNES, Mega Drive Mega Drive 2 and PC Engine)
@Damo What do you think are the (popular) consoles with the best/worst chance of getting a Mini? Which would be your first choice?
I'd love an N64 mini, but I think the chances are very low and with N64 games on NSO, it's not the end of the world if we don't get one.
Re: Poll: Are Game Boy Games Still Worth Playing In 2023?
@Wheatly Surely they'll add Zero Mission at some point?
I never had a Gameboy or GBA, so it's great to have the opportunity to play these. I'm mainly interesting in the Mario, Zelda and Metroid games.
IMO Super Mario Bros 3 is the greatest game ever, so having the chance to play the e-reader levels is great.
Re: Round Up: "A Masterpiece Made Even Better" - Metroid Prime Remastered Reviews Are In
@Gs69 I'm waiting for the physical too.
I hope they give Metroid Prime 2 and 3 the same treatment! They could use them to fill the gap between Metroid Prime 4 and Metroid Prime 5!!

Re: Light Gun Fans Rejoice! Hacker Gets Wii Remote Working With Sega Dreamcast
I'm surprised a game studio hasn't come out with a range of light gun games for modern consoles, the Sinden light gun seems to show the technology can work well...

Re: Anniversary: Super Mario Sunshine Released In North America 20 Years Ago Today
I think Sunshine has some of the most fun concepts in 3D Mario...battling a 3D Mecha Bowser whilst riding a roller coaster?! epic!!
Re: Sunsoft Announces Digital Event For Upcoming Games
@Hikingguy I have never played Spy Hunter, is it any good?
Re: Best Sega Saturn Games
@Damo Do you think there is enough quality in the library + interests + lack of licencing issues for SEGA to do a Saturn Mini?

Re: Sega's Astro City Mini Is Getting A Release In The West
@jrt87 Can you play all of the games with it being in Japanese? It's not clear if the games are going to be localised or not.
Re: Sega's Astro City Mini Is Getting A Release In The West
Are the games in English?
Re: Hardware Review: Capcom Home Arcade Is The Most Ludicrous Micro-Console Yet, And We're In Love
@JayJ it's not a micro console, it's a micro Arcade machine!!!
