Re: Going Back In Time - Do You Play Retro Games To Reconnect With Your Past?

NintendoDad

I am somewhere in the middle.

When the NES, SNES were coming out, I was too busy with college. And I didn't even have a TV in my apartment to hook one up to even if I picked one up. But I did pick up a Game Boy. And now that I can play some of those old games on NSO . . . it does bring back some memories.

But . . . there are a lot of games I never played when they came out. Like Zelda OOT. I finally got around to trying to play OOT last year . . . and it just blew me away how awesome this game is. LOL. So . . . no nostalgia there. This is my first time playing through the game. So it is all totally new experience for me. And I am really enjoying the game!

So somewhere in the middle. Playing some games for nostalgia. Playing some games for the 1st time!

I'm just glad that we have access to these old games. Some of them are just really amazing and still hold there own today.

Re: Poll: Are Game Boy Games Still Worth Playing In 2023?

IMHO it can totally be worth it playing Game Boy and GBA games in 2023.

A lot were good games then, and are good games now.

But it is really nice that these games are available on Switch because it makes these games accessible to so many gamers now.

These games can be a great entry point for a gamer to get into an IP.

And it can "scratch an itch" for any gamer that wanted to play the "original" just to see where the current / latest game came from.

What I find funny is because Nintendo is winding down the 3DS eShop, I went and bought a few of these Game Boy / Game Boy Colour games for our 2DS. LOL. Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons / Ages, Metroid II, and Super Mario Bros. 3 (for NES).

Re: Poll: So, What's Your Favourite Controller Of All Time?

NintendoDad

I picked Game Cube. Loved it when we got it with our Game Cube. 'kept using it for Mario Kart and Smash on Wii, Wii U and Switch. Only downside is it is wired and missing buttons for the Switch.

So, now, more likely to use a PDP Wired Fight pad connected through an 8BitDo GBros Adapter.

Now . . . if the 8BitDo SN30 Pro was on the list, that would be my current pick. Wireless. All the required buttons / sticks. And the SNES feel.
