We had one of these in Indianapolis, and my buddy and I would cut class to "hit the sims", and it was great because the arcade was dead in the mornings so we'd often get to just keep playing, and they'd let us change up mission parameters and such, good times!
The ones that are still in use nowadays are cobbled together with cannibalized parts, baling wire, and positive thoughts...which is, amusingly, lore-friendly for the BattleTech setting. They used to come to Gen Con but the last time was I think 2019.
