This is great news but I'm confused by the legality of it, especially considering it's a Japanese movie... When I saw the news, I assumed it was finally re-released on DVD/BR, not on YouTube.
I think the poll should have offered two "no" options, whether people think content should be censored instead or not changed at all, even though I assume they meant the second option. I personally voted "yes" because I feel it's important to put things into context, as it is already done with books for instance.
@PinballBuzzbro I actually wanted to create an Altered Beast spin-off that would keep the same gameplay but turn it into a Metroidvania using the different transformations (and adding new ones). Unfortunately, I can't do the graphics... But most of all I don't have time anymore to create games.
@JackGYarwood Yes, they work together, but in the rare cases the info comes from Indie Retro News, Saberman mentions the link in the description as source. I check Indie Retro News often to be fair, but mostly because Saberman's notifications don't always work well for some reason. But Indie Retro News is a terrible website and I find sad you would use it that often as a source.
@michaelf The Evercade has no analog stick, so it's probably tank controls (with shoulder buttons to strafe maybe). But personally they only bother me in games with fixed cameras like Resident Evil.
@Zenszulu That probably won't happen. It's suspected that the reason why Capcom and Taito games are included in the handhelds rather than on carts is that Capcom and Taito ask for a lot more money, and Blaze doesn't want to sell carts at a higher price. So they prefer to 'hide' the cost of the games in the systems. Also Capcom and Taito might think that carts may compete with their own compilations/reissues on modern systems.
@Damo Actually, I was told it was available since May but I had no idea (or maybe I had forgotten). In my defense, I couldn't find it even after looking for it, since it's not available in game (the controls menu only show the default controls). It's still in beta though, which might explain why it's in the "..." menu.
Anyway, I don't really feel the EXP adds much more to the Super Pocket considering its price: few games benefit from TATE mode and I never play connected to a TV. So I suspect I'm gonna play way more with the Super Pocket in the future.
The journalist also claims that Gunpei Yokoi invented arcade cabinets in the video. It's not just the Odyssey... I'm wondering if he used ChatGPT thinking it would be knowledgeable about video games, or if he got pranked by a trainee or something.
The reason why this happened with the Wii U is probably because it was a commercial failure and many consoles have already been stored unused for years. But it might happen in the future for every system using NAND Flash, such as the Switch but also the Steam Deck, the PS5, and the Xbox Series. And PCs.
@Banks I already mentioned Streets of Rage 2, Double Dragon Advance, Die Hard Arcade, The Ninja Warriors Again, and Warriors of Fate. In general, I tend to prefer beat 'em ups that offer a lot of moves; it annoys me when people claim they're intrinsically repetitive. Good beat 'em ups are not repetitive. But Final Fight and King of the Dragons are not good beat 'em ups imho. They're pretty, sure, but they're very shallow.
@Damo Obviously, and that's why I didn't use the word 'trash' and specified 'imho'. Honestly I wouldn't have risked publishing any subjective list, even though I'm well aware it makes people talk. Or I would have presented it differently, like offering people to discover little known beat 'em ups for instance.
Very disappointing list imho, since ALL my favorite games are missing: Streets of Rage 2, Double Dragon Advance, Die Hard Arcade, The Ninja Warriors Again, etc. And some games on the list are very shallow, including the overrated The King of Dragons in which each character has a grand total of 3 attacks. -_- Knights of the Round is better for starters, and Warriors of Fate is also better than Armored Warriors for me, even though it's decent at least.
I own a copy of Cotton but ironically, I never liked it. Not cute enough and far too hard for me. Also I didn't know Faselei had been released in Europe; if I knew, I wouldn't have got the Japanese version, which is not very easy to play.
I'm surprised to see that many shmups, and I actually don't like these very much, even though I'm not a fan of the genre. Also I hate Magician Lord, and I'm puzzled so many people like it. It's almost impossible to beat because of a weird design choice.
I wanted Last Battle as a kid so I asked my friends to offer it to me for my birthday. But the friend in charge of the gift wanted it for himself, so he pretended he didn't find it and offered me his copy of El Viento instead. And later I pretended he had borrowed Last Battle from a mysterious friend. Well, joke's on him I guess.
I'm very familiar with the movie and the fact it was shot twice but didn't know about the poison. Very interesting although loosely related to video games to be honest.

Re: Konami's Sci-Fi Sidescroller Surprise Attack Heading To Switch & PS4
Fun fact: It was supposed to be based on a famous franchise Konami didn't manage to get at the time (but got later).
Re: You Can Now Turn Your Steam Deck Into A Less-Portable 3DS
More like a 2DS, then. Pass.
Re: Sweet Home, The Movie That Inspired Resident Evil, Just Got Remastered

Re: 3DS Virtual Boy Emulation Gives You 3D Without The Headaches
@RupeeClock Well, the 3DS had the ideal resolution for most retro systems to begin with, but I agree.
Re: Random: Why Are American Game Journalists In The Credits Of Road Avenger?
They probably did that to mess up Mobygames and make the life of video game historians miserable.
Re: Killer Instinct 3 Would Have Been A Prequel Starring Kids, Says Designer
Well, I can clearly live without it tbh. ^^'
Re: Review: THEC64 Collection 3 (Evercade) - A Third Helping Of Commodore Classics
"Cybernoid II: The Revenge doesn't really improve on the first" Maybe but it features one of the best music themes ever composed for a video game.

Re: Midnight Challenge Is An Awesome Ridge Racer Homage Created In Game Maker Studio
I really wish developers would stop posting videos on Twitter instead of YouTube... -_-
Re: NES-Style Games 'Reknum' And 'Ploid' Come To Dreamcast
They're not just "NES-style", they're basically emulated versions of NES homebrew games.
Re: Check Out The Game Gear-Inspired Z-Pocket Game Bubble
And of course it always features those horrible analog sticks from the Switch.

Re: Aleste-Style Shmup ZAKESTA-Z Hits Steam This Month
January 20th is actually this week, but technically it's also this month, yes.
Re: We Never Got A Good Altered Beast 2, So A Fan Is Making One
@PinballBuzzbro There's actually a sequel on PlayStation 2 but I never played it and it has a bad reputation.
Re: We Never Got A Good Altered Beast 2, So A Fan Is Making One
Mean people would say we never got a good Altered Beast 1 either, but I actually love that game.
Re: Best Sega 32X Games Of All Time
@Uncharted2007 Indeed, I came here to mention its absence.
Re: 'The Transylvania Adventure Of Simon Quest' Is Basically A New Castlevania
Yeah, I'm really surprised Konami is letting it fly...

Re: The Secret Of Monkey Island Has Been Ported To C64 (Well, Kind Of)
"as spotted by IndieRetroNews" No, as usual, Saberman was the one who spotted it on CSDb.
Re: The PC-88 Classic Silpheed Blasts Its Way Onto The Switch eShop on December 21st
Xanadu wasn't released in Europe, though, even if previous games like Thexder are available.
Re: Guide: Evercade Secret Games And How To Unlock Them
Hummingz code doesn't seem to work on the EXP, and I already have the 8 hidden games anyway so it must be another VS exclusive.

Re: Tiny Magic Is A Charming New Puzzle Adventure Game Coming To The MSX2
"came to our attention thanks to the fine folks over at IndieRetroNews" They probably got the info from MSX.org without mentioning them, though. -_-
Re: Neo Geo CD Title 'Battle Flip Shot' Is Now Available To Order
@Moroboshi876 The VISCO Collection was released this week!

I own an EXP and it doesn't have button remapping yet (but I'm launching a firmware update as I type this).
Re: Taito's 1989 Shoot 'Em Up Darius II Is This Week's Arcade Archives Release
@JayJ No idea, but it happened before with Metro-Cross for instance.
Re: Taito's 1989 Shoot 'Em Up Darius II Is This Week's Arcade Archives Release
Last week's game didn't release in the West apparently.

Re: Wii U And 3DS eShop Closure Is Removing Access To The Wider Goemon Series
@gaga64 Yeah, I suspect they meant Japan-only games; a lot of episodes in the series never came to the West.
Re: Not Used Your Wii U In A While? It Might Be Dead
@JayJ I'm not sure the OS has any effect here; NAND Flash cells tend to lose their charge with time when they're not powered.
