Re: Anniversary: Need For Speed Turns 30 This Month

My favorite racing game series by far: from having detailed and thoughtful information about the cars, to a flashy and fun description of the tracks; the races with opponents, and civilian traffic and police getting in the way of the races, and let's not forget the soundtrack, oh, that wonderful "original" soundtrack, how I miss it...

@KitsuneNight
As you know, NFS was originally going to be the continuation of the Test Drive series, since as everyone knows, the creators and original developers of Test Drive and Need For Speed are the same (EA also had in mind to get the IP of Test Drive, but couldn't), and that's why, in its first game, the one for the 3DO, it has many elements of Test Drive, from a life counter if you crashed at high speed; the race didn't start until you put the first gear in and therefore, the control of the cars was also different.
When they made the PC, Playstation and Saturn versions, they decided to make changes to make it a bit more arcade-like, eliminating the lives and putting a countdown to start the race (but they forgot to remove the mandatory "to put the first gear in").

Re: Atari Has Acquired Chris Sawyers' Classic PC Sim 'Transport Tycoon'

This is interesting, since if I recall correctly, Chris was not very happy when Atari made a mess of the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise, so much so that Atari lost the rights to the first 2 versions, and the 3rd version was lost by its developer, and now it turns out that everything is fine and they already have the rights to Transport Tycoon?
Well, I really hope that they really have sorted out their affairs and, as Atari says, we see a good deal for this classic franchise.

Re: Interview: Super Mario Kart & SimCity Composer Soyo Oka On Her Most Iconic Nintendo Soundtracks

She and the F-zero composer, my respects and I bow down to their work.

Her music is so inspiring, from calm to hectic, with Sim City showing that performance at the exact moments of the game, so much so that with Sim City 3000 alone, her music is legendary and for me, I even get to use it in other similar games, soundtracks as magical as hers in that type of games is very 'unique'

And speaking of racing, Mario Kart, I really can't say more than what almost everyone has said, simply that, as many have expressed, it would have been interesting if she continued composing for more Mario Kart games and also, why not, for Sim City or similar.

Re: The Puzzling Legacy of Panel de Pon And Puzzle League

When I got to know this game at the time that the Pokemon franchise was used as a skin for this game, I really became addicted to its gameplay, especially playing the VS mode.
However, when I met the original version of the SNES, and its characters, I fell completely in love.
But, knowing that and why this game was never given the opportunity, in the West, to use its original characters (and its "direct sequel", on the GameCube), it made me very sad, and even that the game It is still excellent without its characters currently, I do not deny that it feels like a hole that they are not there...

The return to the NSO of this original game and around the world was very surprising, however, I hope for a new version and that its original characters are included.

Re: Feature: Remember When Atari Turned Down Nintendo And Sega?

@Elvie
However, here we already talked about what was Atari owned by Warner Communications, Warner had bought Atari before and changed their ideas to how we know today, make many, many games and hope that because they were Atari, they would sell without problems, there is crash of '83.
Since then, the Atari brand already seems more like a curse, any company that has the rights of that company (and in fact they were 2 parts, Atari was divided into 2, but one half already disappeared), only gets lost or remains in Bankruptcy; Actually, Infogrames who the current owner of Atari (and that is why they named themselves Atari inc.) is bankrupt, and even it seems that they are trying to "resurface", its uncertain future ...
