Re: Arcade Games Are Coming To Polymega

Serpenterror

Meh in this time and era, any cheap modern day Chinese emulation devices could already run and play arcade games and at full speed, at this point Playmaji is just playing catch up when it comes to emulation. With a Retroid Pocket 2S, AYN Odin, Miyo Mini, or RG353P you could play anything from Atari 2600, Colecovision, Intellivision, MSX, Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Lynx, Atari Jaguar, NES, Sega Genesis, Super NES, Turbo Grafx-16, Turbo CD, Sega CD, Sega 32X, MS-DOS, Game Gear, and Game Boy to even arcade, NeoGeo, NeoGeo Pocket Color, Sega Saturn, PS1, 3DO, Dreamcast, N64, PSP, GBA, GameCube, DS, 3DS, Wii, and PS2 with little to no issues. They could be play on the go or hook up to be play on your tv too and had support for bluetooth, WiFi, cloud streaming, remote play, PvP, and media streaming too among other modern day features.

Re: Best Sega Game Gear Games Of All Time

Serpenterror

The Game Gear was such an underrated handheld, it's a shame Sega did not make a true follow-up to keep its legacy going. I find it interesting that it got games not only from the NES, Sega Master System, and Sega Genesis but also from the Super NES, Sega CD, Sega 32X, and Sega Saturn as well. Quite interesting for a handheld that is almost as good as the GBA. There's ports of Wonder Boy and Sonic from SMS, ports of NES titles like Battletoads, Double Dragon, and Pac-Man, ports of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, VR Troopers, Ristar, and Gunstar Heroes from Sega Genesis, ports of Tempo and Space Harrier from Sega 32X, ports of Samurai Shodown, Shining Force Gaiden, and Fatal Fury Special from Sega CD, ports of Baku Baku Animal and Virtua Fighter from Sega Saturn, ports of Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Bust-A-Move from Super NES as well as the Game Gear's own exclusives such as Phantasy Star Gaiden, Sylvan Tales, Ax Battler, Defender of Oasis, Shinobi 2, Pengo, and Chicago Syndicate.

Had Sega made a true successor to the Game Gear (Sega Nomad doesn't count as it's just a portable Genesis) such as a true 32-Bit handheld follow-up then we would had seen more popular games coming such as Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 2 & 3, Darkstalkers 1-3, Radiant Silvergun, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Need For Speed franchise, Marvel Super Heroes, Pocket Fighter, Resident Evil, Shantae, Pokémon games, Ys 1-6, the Legend of Heroes franchise, the Lunar remakes, the Real Bout Fatal Fury games, King of Fighters 94-2003, Suikoden, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Guilty Gear, Tenchu, Soul Blade, Grand Theft Auto, Astal, Grandia, Sakura Taisen, Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Princess Crown, NiGHTS, X-Men: Children of the Atom, Mega Man X3-X6, Mega Man 8, Samurai Shodown 2-4, Metal Slug games, etc., and full Game Gear and SMS backwards compatibility and it would had crush the GBC and GBA before those came to market. Oh such miss opportunity indeed.

Re: The Making Of: Mario Is Missing, The Plumber's Oddest Adventure

Serpenterror

The game was very boring, on screenshots you could easily get fool by all the colorful level maps and good graphics but the game itself is just a cluster of walking, collecting clues, and trying to figure out where you are and then had Yoshi locate you and then clear more doors at the Antarctica hotel and getting rid of Bowser so he couldn't take over the real world like in the Adventure of Super Mario Bros. 3. It's boring, stupid, and terrible even as an educational game.

Re: A Bunch Of Data East Games Have Vanished From The Switch eShop

Serpenterror

Heard that Forever Entertainment is remaking Night Slashers so they likely got the license rights for that game currently so my guess is they probably may plan to remake most of those other games too. If that is true then that may explain why the Data East Johnny Turbo versions are delisted. Forever Entertainment may had snatch the rights to those other games perhaps. Here's hoping Forever Entertainment doesn't screw up remaking those like they did most of their previous remakes.

Re: Review: Anbernic RG ARC - The Dream Handheld For Fighting Game Fans

Serpenterror

If this handheld had a stick then it'll be perfect for playing N64 and some PS1 and Dreamcast games but with no sticks 3D games are awkward. Still getting this for any fighting games plays like a dream especially 6-button ones like Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, Eternal Champions, Darkstalkers, Samurai Shodown, World Heroes, Mortal Kombat, and the legendary console exclusive fighting masterpiece that was Clay Fighter.

Re: Did You Know SNES Street Fighter II Is Missing A Key Feature Of The Arcade Original?

Serpenterror

I don't know man, I had been to Street Fighter tournament where they play the SNES versions of SF2 Turbo and had seen some people doing some very impressive combos. I'm pretty sure I had done a few myself at the times too. Even if some are completely remove, it doesn't take away from the fun factor of the game. The reason why many people don't talk about them was cause they don't exist, these are just button mash combos those so called season players found out and made up so to stir up interest. You can go back to older games, find a few extra hit boxes on one version and says yeah I'm gonna name this cause it didn't happen in the other version.

Re: Gunstar Heroes Developer Treasure On Why Mega Drive Is Better Than SNES

Serpenterror

It's not better, it's just that Sega Genesis/Mega Drive was more easy for them to developed for at the time than Super NES/Super Famicom. Being easy doesn't necessarily mean it's better since Super NES could still do the same as well just that it's more difficult to achieve. The only disappointment is that though Treasure were a loyal dev to Sega at the time, Sega never really see them as something great thus ignoring them even til the death of the Dreamcast. Had they gave Treasure a second look they may even be able to bring success to some of their other IPs such as Panzer Dragoon and Space Harrier, both which are shooter like games which Treasure are known to had experience in.

Re: Miyoo Mini Flip Takes Inspiration From The Nintendo GBA SP

Serpenterror

As I kid I adorn these vertical oriented handhelds but as an adult now these handhelds are just too squish for me to hold and enjoy. This is also the reason why I didn't buy into the PlayDate and the Analogue Pocket, the vertical oriented design just don't work with me anymore. Not sure why those same companies couldn't also make a landscape version so adult gamers like myself could also enjoy it.

Re: Anniversary: Castlevania Classic Dracula X: Rondo Of Blood Is 30 Today

Serpenterror

@MarkyVigoroth The game being release on Virtual Console was a big deal cause it's not often a game originally exclusive to Japan had ever been made available on western digital shop. As you know Virtual Console on Wii only offer retro games from the platform and region those games originally release for so for a game like say Contra, in NA you get original Contra, in Japan you get easier Contra, and in PAL regions you get Probotector. Rondo of Blood unlike Contra doesn't had regional versions.

Re: Anniversary: Game Boy Color Turns 25 Today

Serpenterror

While the Game Boy Color was a nice little upgrade to those who always wanted to play their Game Boy library in colors, Nintendo did fall back on the device a bit from the Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Light. For one the bigger screen had been downgrade to be much smaller, the internal light the GB Light had was not implemented and instead of using AAA batteries, it used two AA batteries instead keeping the system to a good 15-18 hours of game time. I do enjoy the system's few exclusives such as PowerQuest, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil Gaiden, Street Fighter Alpha, Shantae, Pokemon Gold and Silver, and the Zelda Oracle games.

Re: Analogue 3D Is An FPGA-Based N64 With 4K Output

Serpenterror

@HexagonSun And now they had to make 4K versions of the Analogue Nt and Super Nt as HD consoles looks horrible in 4K TV. This is similar to how SD consoles look horrible in HDTV. The better evolve TV gets, the more horrible the older devices look. If you still had an HDTV then you don't have anything to worry about but I think the world is not ready for 4K just yet especially when most are still getting use to HD. Older games themselves will also had to be remastered to 4K if they are already in HD.

Re: Analogue 3D Is An FPGA-Based N64 With 4K Output

Serpenterror

While this is nice I believe it would be years from now that we see any shipping from them if pre-orders are taken. Also I would had expected them to attempt PlayStation FPGA first since that hardware is simplest to implement before N64 but I guess the N64 library is much smaller and easier to support so I could see their point. Still if this works out and I could play Ocarina of Time, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo-Kazooie, and Ogre Battle 64 in native HD (over upscale HD via NSO) then that's good enough to me.

Re: Review: Hyper Mega Tech Super Pocket - A Wonderful Game Boy-Style Retro Gift

Serpenterror

As good as these handhelds are, I already got most of these games on Switch or my other emulation handhelds. Would had been nice if Blaze went to get some totally rare or exclusive titles from these developers for example instead of Street Fighter II and Mega Man, would had been better to get the Game Gear version of Mega Man and the arcade version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo. I would buy it just for the addition of those two titles.

Re: Guide: All 8BitDo Controllers & Accessories - Which Should I Buy?

Serpenterror

@belmont Bluetooth connection to your Steam Deck may be unstable or you're running the Deck on the Beta firmware. Make sure to go check your firmware to see if you're running the Stable firmware. Next make sure you're at the latest firmware update, Steam Deck update every once in a while so it's good to check when you got the chance. Also make sure to also check your bluetooth settings as well so that there's no other bluetooth devices also running on the Deck.

Having too many devices connecting to bluetooth also cause disconnection issue too as the signal may had difficulty trying to run all devices at once. Before you connect another controller to your Deck make sure the ones you are not using are disconnected and not running.

Re: The GameCube & Wii Emulator Dolphin Adds New WiiConnect24 Support & More

Serpenterror

If you're playing just the GameCube games you'll have a good time with Dolphin, it's the Wii games that are the most complicated to work around as most doesn't support traditional game pad so you'll have to use alternatives which makes it even worst. The thing is if you want to play Skyward Sword just play the HD version on Yuzu, if you want to play Twilight Princess, Wii U or the GameCube versions are your only go to. If you want to play a few third party ports but don't want to deal with the force motion controls such as the case with Bully, Okami, Metal Slug Anthology, and Speed Racer which are fantastic games but force motion control ruins them then just get the PC, PS2, or PSP versions of those games for PCSX2 or PPSSPP or Steam.

Re: Clock Tower Creator Didn't Know About Its Upcoming Re-Release

Serpenterror

@JJtheTexan The only difference between that and Clock Tower was that Clock Tower had one director which is Hifumi Kouno and is not a collaboration, Super Mario RPG had two directors cause it was a collaboration between two leaders: Chihiro Fujioka of Square and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo. Since Fuijioka is no longer with Square, the other side of the lead team is Miyamoto who is still with Nintendo and as long as one leader is still handling the game it's a done deal as long as Square Enix and Nintendo are fine with it.

Re: Clock Tower Creator Didn't Know About Its Upcoming Re-Release

Serpenterror

Seems like MVG and Limited Run Games talk their mind too soon and forgot that there's actually people who originally made these games possible. How do you miss someone as important as the Clock Tower creator himself and trying to counterfeit his game without him knowing? For someone who also respect the original creator and want to give them credits, I'm very disappointed on how they handle this.

Like Pat and Ian of the CUPodcast said, don't get attached to project from scummy companies or else you'll get your reputation ruin and at the end of the day it'll be you that the fans will throw the torches and pitchforks at and not the corporations, just look at Rerez with the ALL Controller, Gamester81 with the Coleco Chameleon, SmashJT with the Intellivision Amico, Jason Schrier of Kotaku who advertised for the scummy Kickstarter RPG Unsung Story which still had not been release for consoles yet, Christian Whitehead with Sonic Mania (even after they help with the game and the remakes they still get look down and disrespected by Sega), and MatPat from Game Theory who stand to represent Google Stadia only to get embarassed thereafter.

These people had their reputation ruin by scummy corps and scammers that I'm surprise most still had not learn from it yet. Hopefully for MVG sake he doesn't get bulldoze by customers when LRG leaves him in the dust. I'm not saying leave while you still can but do be careful cause now the attentions are on you and make one huge mistake and it'll all come crumbling down.

Re: The Puzzling Legacy of Panel de Pon And Puzzle League

Serpenterror

The thing about Panel de Pon and its puzzle concept was that Nintendo doesn't know how to evolve it beyond the anime characters and re-branding. I remember the GBA game was just a barebone block switching puzzle game with no contents what-so-ever, had it not got bundle with Dr. Mario I wouldn't had bought it. Tbh Nintendo should had continue making Panel de Pon using every one of their property (like Golden Sun, F-Zero, Donkey Kong, Fire Emblem, etc.), it would had sold like hotcake if it did. They did it with Picross so not sure why they couldn't do the same with Puzzle League. Heck they could even license other third party IP into the puzzle game as well. Can you imagine a Sonic Puzzle League, a Mega Man Puzzle League, a Street Fighter Puzzle League, a Disney Puzzle League, a Dragon Quest Puzzle League, a Final Fantasy Puzzle League, a Rayman Puzzle League, or heck even a Super Smash Bros. Puzzle League? I don't think these third party IP had any puzzle game using their property yet. Nintendo could easily make fast easy money with this IP and they choose not to embrace it.

Re: Former Sega Boss On The "Huge Strategic Blunder" Of 32X And Saturn

Serpenterror

By 1994, they should had focus on the Sega Saturn while still supporting the Sega Genesis. The Sega 32X shouldn't even be made. The Sega Saturn should had also be backwards compatible with both Sega Genesis and Sega CD games to keep loyal Genesis and Sega CD owners happy enough to make the jump. Sonic 3D Blast, Kolibri, Doom, and Vectorman should had been Sega Saturn launch titles alongside Virtua Fighter and Daytona USA while Sonic X-Treme is in the work. Had they gone this route they would still be able to come in second place even if they got beaten by Sony and the PlayStation.
