I was hopeful that their announcement this month would relate to actually clearing up the backlog of orders still waiting to be shipped (mine among them). Although this new app will provide additional access to games, I’m surprised that given the delays they aren’t going to provide a longer “free” subscription to the premium tier of the app for those with outstanding orders.
What a wonderful memory from the mid-90’s! I lived in one of the test markets and still remember going to the cable company’s office the last day of the school year in June 1994 with my mom to pick up the Sega Channel set-up. I had sold her on the idea of getting Sega Channel in lieu of renting so many games from the local video store each weekend. We probably ended up keeping Sega Channel for a couple years, I don’t recall whether it was that the cable company quit supporting it or if I had just moved on to the next generation of consoles by then…
