It might be worth buying one, considering how big of a bust it'll be. 5 years from now, nobody will know what it was but there may be collectors around the world who'll pay a lot for these then hard-to-find devices.
I've been waiting for an HD Megadrive for ages. Software emulation has been there for decades but that's a hard pass for me who played those games on the original hardware and just can't tolerate the many imperfections of software emulation.

Re: Hardware Review: Evercade - Can A 100% Physical Media Console Really Work In 2020?
Low resolution LCD display, half the battery life of a DS Lite and no games from this century!
Sounds appealing?
Not to me.
Re: Polymega Slips Into Early 2020, But It's Bringing Some Cool Stuff With It
I don't see a reason for a(nother) hardware for emulation (which is, by definition, far from the original game experience).
Re: This Exclusive Evercade Console Is Looking Pretty In Black
Why would anybody buy a handheld like this for that amount of money in 2020, is beyond me.

Battle Chess?
Wow, I haven't heard this name in decades!
I remember how fun it was playing it in the 90s.
I'm not gonna pay for a console to play it now, though.
(There's a very good chess game on Switch, too.)

Re: More Tantalising Polymega Details Emerge From GDC 2019
Software emulation sucks.
PCs have been able to do that for decades.
Re: Feature: How Mortal Kombat Defined The Console War Between Sega And Nintendo
That's great, now bring them all to Switch!
