They need to bring these ports into their own collection that isn't tied to a Yakuza game.

I have nothing against Yakuza (I love the series) but I'd like an option to buy these separately as each Yakuza game is expensive and it'd be silly to buy games just for these ports...

I'm kind of on the fence with this release.

On the one hand, quality seems great and it having compatibility with all carts means lots of games.

On the other hand, the limited game selection and no HDMI out are two absolutely massive blunders.

The Egret II Mini (which I picked up for around $120 USD) comes pre loaded with 40(!) games and has HDMI out as well as support for a trackball controller, flight stick and more with 3 extra optional game packs (and a 4th on the way).

Unless the emulation and input lag are top notch, I can't see this being a solid purchase at this price point.

Also, while it's a solid review, I would have appreciated a further in depth look at emulation quality input Lag and controller compatibility.

Oishi-san and Egawa-san are very friendly. I got to meet them at TGS this year.

I will say, as cool as they quarter arcades are, I'd be more interested if they dug into the Taito catalogue a bit deeper. I've played Space Invaders on every platform available... But a Darius widescreen cab replica? That would rock!

Right now, practically ever Darius game is on sale.

Also the ACA Darius I had better sound emulation and screen options than the M2 one, believe it or not.

For those genuinely interested in this topic, I highly recommend checking out the book "Pure Invention: How Japan's Pop Culture Conquered the World" by Matt Alt.

It dives into the "Japanese pop culture invasion" of the Americas and recounts the decades of strong anti-Japanese sentiment and how video games were at the forefront of that culture struggle.

I can honestly see the connection here, even if it might not be intentional by the creators of the game.

The situation over at SLG is worth its own in-depth article. It's been extremely fishy over there, with no clarity or transparency at all.

I wish they released these earlier than december and in higher quantities. They disappear FAST.

I always come back to this game and Gaiden. The absolute peaks for the franchise.

I'd love a port of either to modern consoles, but I'm not sure I trust konami to not just farm it out to the lowest bidder...

@belfastgonzo The genesis was also more popular than the SNES in america for most of its lifespan.

I'm honestly not confident these folks can pull this off. The team has no experience on these types of games and parts of that trailer looked rough and basic.

I'd be more excited if an experienced developer was involved.

I feel like it's pretty brazen and unnecessary to say they shouldn't publish indie games anymore. They are sometimes the only way to get those indie games and I'd much rather innovative and creative indie games over a sloppy collection for Castlevania ROMs.

Also if you think LRG is bad, I dare you to look into the rabbit hole that is Strictly Limited Games!

I've been playing this on the Egret II Mini and it's quite fun! Great update on classic Qix gameplay.

I hope these come to console.

The issue with PC gaming is everyone's setup is different...

Incredibly rare and fantastic version of Darius II.

I already got it on Taito Milestones II, but this is cool for folks who just want this game.

In the time it's taken SLG to not even start shipping their copies we've got a steam port of the game... Sheesh lol

@PinballBuzzbro I mean, Darius Console was a kind of bunk collection but Darius arcade ruled and given the quality of the games and emulation I thought it was a fair price.
