@somnambulance I feel like Utsumi means that Virtua Fighter is just not that interesting to watch or play when compared to other modern fighting games. The "pureness" you mention comes off as just being "basic/generic" to me, I'm sorry to say.
I was REALLY hoping for a new VF announcement, but it sounds like they need to come up with a new gameplay hook to make a sequel warranted. Something like DOA's triangle system, for example, or maybe taking a page from the UFC games in terms of incorporating stamina or injuries to lean into the "realism" that the series sorta plays into. There's a lot of directions they could take it in. Otherwise, they'll just be swallowed up by Tekken's shadow, IMHO.
I was super on-board with this fan project until they revealed their guest character plans, which ruined the entire thing for me, so it's actually a relief to see this get C&D'ed as a ClayFighter fan.
I mean, the equivalent would be like if someone wanted to bring back Castlevania but make Amy Schumer one of the main characters. It's just thematically so out-of-place that it's better off they make their own original game.
Great console, but horrible D-Pad if you had the 1001 version like I did! After trying a bunch of snap-on pads, I remember I super-glued a coin onto the D-Pad and could FINALLY get the diagonals to read properly.
@Utena-mobile Say whaaaat? I actually liked Homecoming and Downpour...probably because I was prepared to absolutely HATE both of them before I actually played them haha. Nothing will ever be as good as the originals though!
