Re: Talking Point: Is There Such A Thing As "Bad" Nostalgia?

AlienX

People constantly tell me SADX is bad or Sonic Heroes is bad, which to me, to this day I still find them to be magnificent games where I never encountered any problems.

To use Star Wars as an example, I grew up with Masters of Teras Kasi, which I would play with friends and family, that game is known to be bad (and I personally was hooked on 3D platformers like Spyro) but it's such a fun time, I could easily still play it today just to hear the funny sounds and how cool it is to play as Mara Jade. Luke Skywalker vs... Hoar. That's classic.

Can't say the same for Lego Star Wars II another game I had as a kid, playing that now feels very wrong somehow. Not like it's a bad game, but it's kinda bland and the appeal doesn't work as an adult.

I have one of those 2005 platinum GCs that doesn't have sp2 or the progressive scan port AND a broken disc drive, but hey! easy access to the GBP and homebrew make me want to dive into this already!!!

EDIT: Spoke way soon, release was a joke, they lacked support for paypal or apple pay, leaving you with no choice but to put in your card details, I don't see why in 2024 I'd need to risk it.

I am so disappointed, as this would've allowed me to resolve so many problems, even if I go out and buy a prepaid card the thing will ship, like, next year at the earliest.

My GC will continue to be a fancy Memory Card manager.

@sabreman64 If you want to keep your saves safe it's better to use gcmm on a Wii and store as raw or gci files depending on your use case.

If your card becomes corrupt, all you have to do is restore the raw file with gcmm.

The raw file is compatible with nintendont and devolution, so you don't have to rely on a memory card.

The Wii currently has no loaders that support the mcd pro's game id reading, so you'd have to rely on swiss, which is a waste of time on Wii, when you have better options.

Re: Yuji Naka Killed "Dreamcast's Star Fox", Says Former Sega Producer

AlienX

It's SEGA during DC-era though, if Naka didn't want them it was probably for a good reason. They really didn't need Nintendo clones.

If there was something worth salvaging for the prime product of the DC then many would've done the same thing.

Speaking behind their backs is (as mentioned) just one side of the story, Naka seems like a humble guy from his social media, and has even contributed info for the retro Sonic scene.

If he wasn't smiling while saying he wanted them fired, he was just doing his job.
