And that's why digital sucks, alot of games from the PS3 will be lost forever. Pretty sad where you'll have to rely on emulation. Luckily most of my PS3 library is physical.

Personally I have & never will dream of playing Doom on Neo. For one the Neo isn't particularly designed for this. And when I can play the likes of Blazing star, Metal slug, Fatal fury, Last resort. I couldn't careless. The Neo is a 2D sprite shifting beast, designed for arcade gaming.

Best get now the industry is turning to ***** anyway. I'll stick to retrogaming that's why im here.

@Kev711 Im more interested in the games that made to the arcades to be honest. I know the M2 tech is not really accessible. Anyway this project is scrapped altogether now anyways.

If they decide to bring the hardware back in some form. Let's have the 3DO M2 tech, this had loads of potential. A few titles made it to the arcade from Konami, Polystars is brilliant just not great on emulation unfortunately. Personally they should just bring it to switch.

I had a 3DO back in the day, had potential, unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. And let's be honest the majority of the games were crap. Its better just left alone.

At last someone who gets it, the industry is obsessed with the same ***** mainly openworld, roguelike, soulslike. Its frustrating when the tech is their but not the games. Im 55 been playing games since pong was in vogue. The industry must be stupid, they aren't thinking about us older gamers having more disposable income. Thankfully the Retro scene is there & that's what I spend my money on. Their are some devs who get it, like Bitmsp bereau with the amazing terminator 2d no fate. This is what I want more of.

Love the original as it is, i have a boxed UK version. Which i play on my Retrofreak console, on the big screen. Love it, the only thing I would change is the music. The GBA is definitely more capable.

Sounds fantastic, love the FM sound from the Mega. Personally I love all the systems from that era. Luckily I own all of em as well. The Megadrive, Snes, Neo, PC Engine all have great sound. From the likes of Thunderforce 3,4, Soldier blade, Axelay, Gradius 3, Last resort, Alpha mission 2. I could go on.

I have the original systems, I'll be fine thsnks, dont need this monstrosity lol.

And this is why the 16-bit generation will always be the best. Will never forget getting my import Megadrive & Super Famicom. Games like Thunderforce 3, Pilot wings, Gradius 3, Actraiser blew me away. Still do every time I play them.

@Gitface totally agree mate, treated myself to the 2600+ Atari Pacman edition. So many great titles on both the Atari 2600, 7800+ consoles. Its great:) now its even more exciting with the rise of the Neo. Really hoping the indie/homebrew scene start making new titles on it & really exploit the power of the system. Much like the Megadrive which has some stunning new titles, Earthion being one.

@Gitface likewise mate, im hoping that this could reignite the Neo indie scene. If carts are cheaper we might get some seriously amazing new titles to exploit the hardware. Look how good the new Megadrive games are.

Hopefully this is going to be a great system, with no compromises. Already preordered.

Love SNK, love the Neo tech, used to have an AES, stupidly sold it years ago. I have a Neo CD top loader with some of the best shooters. But now with this new AES, at last I can own one again. Already preordered:)

If this happens, I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Especially if you could play original carts. I do own a Neo CD top loader though which I love. But obviously the cart system is the better choice.

Amazing article, love M2 even more now, obviously they have a passion for retro as much as me. The mention of Marble madness was a surprise. Also one of my favourite games ever. Would be great for M2 to do something with it.

Hopefully the Megadrive cart version will be available soon. I do have the the physical Switch version, Steam deck version. Also i have a repro Megadrive cart version, so I can play it on original hardware. But will be nice to have the true physical copy on Megadrive eventually.

Not a big lover of Final lap, the car handling is atrocious, hardly playable in my opinion. Its a big no from me.
