It’s a shame as it would be a great cart collection, would likely interest me more in the system too, in a big Capcom fan, not a lot they could do wrong in the 90s really.
Just a guess, but I’m assuming neither of the system specific games (Street Fighter, or Mega Man/Final Fight) are available on the mentioned separate cartridges?
I’m not 100% familiar with Evercade, but I thought I’d read before that the Capcom licence was for console exclusive release only, and not cartridge releases (?). Hence to play these on Evercade, you have to buy all the different machines.
That advert/commercial is great. I love things like this, personally I like creating fake commercials, for fun, think Tarantino/Rodriguez “Grindhouse”, or Robocop etc.., they’ve achieved this nicely - intentionally or otherwise.
Personally, I’ve bought the Pocket and Mega SG at initial pre order stage, and I’d memory serves me right, neither were offered with videos of the system functioning.
They had renders with gifs running on a screen of the pocket for example, but there was no indication or suggestion that was actual footage from the device.
I could be for forgetting something, but I just don’t think putting out videos of the system working, at this stage is a thing they do.
I’m ordering on the basis I have purchased a good few products from them in the past and all have delivered and met my expectations.
Got one too, in black. Couldn’t get hold of an 8BitDo 64 in black though. Seems like it was never available, white controllers are still available though.
I was very interested in this when it was first announced. I’m still interested, just justifying the expense. That being said, the price is where I hoped it to be.
The history lesson in this article suggests that all equitable predecessors were perceived overpriced and the cost greatly reduced during its time on market.
On another note, is anyone else sensing an increasing downward spiral of this industry, there doesn’t appear to be much of a spark left anymore, it’s all become stale, lacklustre and expensive, yet with no sense of ownership as games are removed from stores and servers are shut down. Expensive technology can be justified to enthusiasts, but there has to be something compelling about it.
Similar here. I got this day one. I was at the shop for a midnight launch to get my console and Ready 2 Rumble boxing. I later enjoyed Power Stone and Shenmue. I just feel I didn’t give the console enough time/attention to get the most out of it.
I’ve always been intrigued by the Sinden Gun. And often contemplated creating a PC based emulation setup for all the classic arcade light gun games.
To be honest that might still be the case, as the mister, from what I’m reading, is not currently running things such as Time Crisis, House of The Dead, Virtua Cop etc..,. (Arcade versions I’m referring to).
In the UK this game was £70. It was the most expensive Mega Drive game at that time - Super Street Fighter 2 was quite pricy I remember, due to the memory side of the cartridge.
I recall reading all the magazine promos for this, and repeatedly visiting my local game store to play the pre-release demo they had playing on their stands.
I was lucky enough to get a copy at release from my Mum’s catalogue (Littlewoods, or something like that) only to have the case arrive and not work correctly in my original Mega Drive, the graphics were all corrupted and the car was driving/flying through the sky. Very bizarre.
Regardless of the comparisons with the SNES, this game was a tremendous feat for the Mega Drive at the time. I’d say you had to be there at the time to understand how much of a leap this felt.
From my knowledge the closest we have is the Mega SD from Terraonion.
I always hoped Analogue would bring one out to use the extension on their own Mega SG consoles, especially after I saw they were producing the PC Engine with CD drive.
This story was helpful as I followed the preorder links through to a store and found a new copy of Sol-Deace (retro bit re-issue) in-stock. Snagged that instead.
Matt Berry - “has gone on to bigger and better things, such as Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd, Toast of London and The Book of Boba Fett”
You forgot the voice of Poseidon in SpongeBob The Movie: Sponge on the Run and Snuff Box 😀
@Serpenterror I agree, though I do seem to recall an interview recently with ablaze, when Glover was announced and a question was posed about an analogue stick in the future, which was answered with something like “we’re considering/looking at it”
Certainly N64/Dreamcast and later life PS1 would benefit I’d guess.
Thanks for the link. I should have read that before. I always wandered why there was a massive hole in their collections. That is a real shame, and it’s come from Sega, not Nintendo, who you’d more likely suspect of these shenanigans.
What’s the story with the Mega Drive book, I’d been holding out how they would make one, one day. But this now sounds very unlikely? I thought they had managed to make a Master System book though?
Exactly this. They were a good step forward when the ‘Ultra 64’ first emerged. When I first saw an imported copy of Mario 64 and managed to have a go I was sold with that ‘new’ analogue control. But the graphics were great, and the softness/blur just became the signature style of the N64
Loved this show, perfect after school viewing. Totally agree with the sentiments regarding a modern day remake.
Surely a simple at home ‘room scale’ variant is easily possible whilst casting to a separate screen, perfect as a family/group game with VR (I realise the player wearing the headset shouldn’t really be seeing anything - as per the show).
Keeping a close eye on this. I don't own many old games, maybe x20 or so MegaDrive, x5 or so Mega CD, x10 PS1 and around x9 NES games. At present I only have the NES, which remarkably still works.
I've tried retropie, it's good, but still doesn't quite feel right.
I'm torn as to whether I should be interested in this, like I said, I don't have a massive collection. Confused, but definitely intrigued.
Perhaps if he wasn't repeatedly whipping it out of his pocket he might of done a little better in the race. Probably developed issues with his eyesight. I'm guessing Ayrton Senna wasn't 'gifted' a game gear.
Also, who was that child too busy playing prince of persia (probably) on his game gear, he couldn't spare the time to look up at the speeding F1 cars. I don't know the youth of (yester)day.

I really like the rotating PCB 😄
“I’d buy that for a dollar!” Or maybe $3.
Re: Limited Run Co-Founder Claims Selling CD-Rs To Customers Was Always The Idea
This just reinforces my concerns for Earthion, when it gets released. Should have put it out through RetroBit, their releases have been great.

Re: Pre-Orders For FPGA N64 'Analogue 3D' Are Open Now
Quick question, did anyone else see the black 8BitDo controller available at any point?
I see the white one can still be preordered, but not the black.
Either it sold out super fast, or was never available.

Re: Anniversary: 25 Years Ago, Sega Launched Dreamcast In Europe With One Of The Most Esoteric Campaigns Ever
I was there on a midnight pickup from Game where I preordered it. A console I truly liked, but didn’t devote enough time to, as such I lost interest.
Re: Random: Mario Kart 64 Texture Matched To A 1994 "Visual Disk" CD
I wonder if the originator of that texture would like to take Nintendo to court, and perhaps force them to remove all traces of this recurrence? 😉
Re: Time Crisis Is Coming To Modern TVs Thanks To A Plug-And-Play, AI-Powered Light Gun
This could be cool. I have the PS1 which as a family we play from time to time. But it’s limited to playing through the CRT.
If this had a bundle of Time Crisis games and Point Blank then I’d be In Like Flynn.
Wonder if it can be hacked/side loaded?

Agreed, my copy of SSF2 got absolutely hammered. Plenty of spare time in those days 😀
Re: Genesis Virtua Racing Port Almost Cost As Much As The Console Itself, Thanks To The SVP Chip
@Andee
I didn’t mind the content level too much. Given the advancement available.
SSF2 was £59.99. Though my copy I got for £49.99. I still have the sticker on my original copy from release. I’d upload a photo, not sure how on here.

Re: Yuzo Koshiro Shares New Footage Of Genesis / Mega Drive Shmup Earthion

I’ve had no first hand experience, but have read a few tails.
I guess having a new game of this calibre, even if through LRG is better than no game at all.
Re: Yuzo Koshiro Shares New Footage Of Genesis / Mega Drive Shmup Earthion
This is the one I’m keen to see. They should release this via Retro-Bit, I’ve been impressed by their output.
Does anyone know who is releasing the physical edition? I have an odd feeling I saw somewhere it would be Limited Run Games 🤔
Re: Gallery: Retro-Bit's Eliminate Down Reissue Gives You A Rare Game Without The Eye-Watering Price

I submitted a contract form to ask, as I’ve seen a few YouTubers and media mentions latel who have received their copies.
They came back and advised it would be sent out in August.

Aren’t these the partner chosen to release Earthion on the Mega Drive (the new Yuzo Koshiro Shmup)?
I’ve been really looking forward to this, having not ordered from LRG before, I’m concerned. Hopefully the UK have a different outlet/supplier.

Didn’t they announce more hardware was to be released toward the end of the year.
I suspect higher tier versions with more features, perhaps even a dockable handheld system is likely I’d guess.
Perhaps maybe even an analogue stick to cater for games on Giga carts that are from newer systems(?)

I didn’t see Destruction Derby in that list of games, technically may not have been out exactly at release, but it certainly was long after release.
