@carlos82 See, I totally disagree with this. If I saw Outrun in an arcade housed in a stand up cabinet with a joystick and buttons...I would feel sad for OutRun.
I'm glad they aren't here. They just don't suit it.
SOLD! I got the arcade stick. Just waiting for the mini to arrive...
I am soooo glad it's not the usual suspects. The omission of Out Run and AfterBurner etc etc is welcome as they wouldn't have suited the spirit of this cabinet and they have given so many 2D games a chance to shine. Oh...and Virtual Fighter! AWESOME! Can't. Wait.
As for roms / emulation. I have no objection to defunct hardware being emulated. Heck there are some wonderful home brew scenes that aren't hurting anyone.
Grabbing a rom of a genuinely lost game is case of no harm, no foul to me. Anything that is still relevant today (and let's face it, that's most of Nintendo's output because it's so industry leading) should be met with contempt and called for what it is. Piracy.
Sure, we all want free games. I'm not unique. When I hit a certain age and started earning my own money, I drooled at being able to own every game I couldn't afford as a kid. But unfortunately, Capitalism isn't some long term scheme where we pay enough in and we get rewarded. A console that can play everything is mighty! But wanting it all for free is nothing but entitled nonsense, regardless of whatever self delusional notions of preservation anyone has.
(No hate. So if you love this thing, fill ya boots! I don't get paid to prevent anyone losing money etc lol!)
I remember the arguments between fighting fans over which was better Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat (yes, we all know it's SF). It's funny how folk turned their nose up at no blood as though it improved the game lol. In fact, taking the gore out of the game showed it up for the shallow brawler it was.
I would love to own one, but thanks to the Switch, I honestly don't think I would ever use it. Thing is, I will probably cave when it's released in the West lol.
I've never liked the button layout of the joysticks. I managed to find one of the Neo Geo CD controllers when I had my system. These days I'll stick to my Switch.

Re: Hardware Review: Sega Astro City Mini - An Esoteric Way To Mark 60 Years In The Business
@Ooyah Quartet 2 isn't really a sequel. It just means it's 2 player (as opposed to 4)

Re: Hardware Review: Sega Astro City Mini - An Esoteric Way To Mark 60 Years In The Business
@carlos82 Yeah, I understand you. But I'm glad they made it more like a mini arcade cabinet in mind. It's perfect*
*Real shame there is no Spider-man though. Ah well.

Re: The RK2020 Is Another Chinese Handheld Which Aims To Play Absolutely Everything
@bluemage1989 Just being honest.
Re: The RK2020 Is Another Chinese Handheld Which Aims To Play Absolutely Everything
The build quality looks a bit chunky to me.

Re: Hardware Review: Evercade - Can A 100% Physical Media Console Really Work In 2020?
Plays ports.
Is port able.
...but no dock.
In all seriousness, the Switch is scratching my retro itch just fine. Now...hurry up Hamster with the Green Beret arcade archive!
Re: Feature: Jason Brookes Talks Super Famicom, Import Gaming And Super Play
RIP Jason. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping make Super Play a foundation for my love of all things SNES.
Re: Atari's Attempt To Relaunch The VCS Has Just Hit Another Brick Wall
Yikes.
Re: A Second Namco Collection Has Been Revealed For The Evercade Handheld System
Really hope we see a Namco Collection 2 on Switch.

Re: Feature: How Mortal Kombat Defined The Console War Between Sega And Nintendo
Let's hope that Mortal Kombat becomes relevant to Nintendo Switch.

I would love to own one, but thanks to the Switch, I honestly don't think I would ever use it. Thing is, I will probably cave when it's released in the West lol.
Re: Legendary Cover Artist Bob Wakelin Passes Away
Aww he was an amazing artist. I had 3 or 4 posters of his artwork on my bedroom wall when I was a kid.

Re: Hardware Review: The Open Source Scan Converter Is Every Retro Gamer's Dream Come True
@aaronsullivan Erm...Target Earth on the Megadrive? Really?
@Wexter Amen. Phenomenal arcade game.
Re: Hardware Review: The Open Source Scan Converter Is Every Retro Gamer's Dream Come True
Music is Cybernator - Who's Praying For a Soldier (level 1 ost) if you were wondering.
Hmmm...this is interesting indeed.
Re: The Making Of Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
EA have the licence until just before the sun goes out...
Re: The Making Of Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
This game was jaw dropping!
Re: Feature: What If The SNES PlayStation Had Actually Happened?
Zelda Ocarina of Time came this close to having loading times between zoning! That would have aged the game a lot more than it's graphics.
