Re: Square Had Huge Plans For The N64 Before It Fell Out With Nintendo

HammerKirby

@madgears Yea (the n64 was competitive power wise as well) but the Mini Dvds were a pretty big mistake, if not as bad as the cartridges. But more importantly, the n64 cartridge mistake was li what gave the ps1 the install base and brand power to make PlayStation a household name. Even if Nintendo had used DVDs for the GCN, the ps2 would have still won that console generation easily. Basically what I am saying is that the n64 using cartridges was one of the most important decisions to lead Nintendo to where they are now.

@MysticX Yea I do wonder where Nintendo would be now if they used CDs for the n64. Would they still have eventually switched to underpowered hardware? Or would they be trying to be more competitive hardware wise? I assume in this timeline that Nintendo never would have lost the third party support that led them to where they are today. I have would have to imagine the Gamecube, Wii, etc. would look a lot different if the n64 used CDs.

Re: Going Back In Time - Do You Play Retro Games To Reconnect With Your Past?

HammerKirby

For me personally I do go back to old games for nostalgia reasons at times. But the thing that gets me the most nostalgic personally is listening to the soundtracks of games I played when I was a kid. I like playing retro games because experiencing games and systems before mybtime is just cool and it gives me a better understanding of VG history.

Re: Gunstar Heroes Developer Treasure On Why Mega Drive Is Better Than SNES

HammerKirby

@AllieKitsune ???? I have no issue with people calling it the "Mega Drive". That's what they've known it as most of their lives after all. But on the same token, us U.S citizens can call it the Genesis as that's we've known it most of our lives. Why not celebrate our differences instead of forcing everyone to conform to one specific name? It has nothing to do with "things revolving around the US).

Re: Review: EON XBHD HD Adapter For Xbox - Bring Your OG Console Into The Modern Age

HammerKirby

This is insanely overpriced as usual from Eon. Just buy an electron shepard Xbox HDMI adapter for a little over $40 an there's no issues with a darkened image or anything. https://electron-shepherd.com/products/xbox2hdmi It really does annoy me that people review Eon products without criticizing their prices or listing all the way cheaper alternatives that are equal or better in functionality.
