Re: PSA: Check Your PSP Battery Right Now

IceClimbersMain

@Sketcz iirc Ostent (specifically the Ostent Gold if yours is a 1000) seems to be the best. Original Sony batteries lasted the best but they're all so old now. I've had one in my 2000 for nearly a year now and it runs for a few hours and charges fast.

Problem is that there are fake FAKE psp batteries, and what I mean by that is there have been reports of fake Ostent or Ostent Gold batteries that were made to look like them, but the "official" seller on Amazon should be your best bet.

Re: The US Copyright Office Doesn't Want To Give You Access To Video Game History

I find it very funny that some of y'all "don't care" if bad games are "lost" to history because the good games will always see rereleases. I personally enjoy many "bad" older games for more unique consoles.

Many good or fan-favorite games are stuck in licensing hell, such as AVP arcade, Godzilla PS4, or the older Spider-Man titles. Plus, you've got Pokémon, the largest media franchise in the world, who STILL won't rerelease any of their older titles and those are some pretty good games.

The arguement that it is less beneficial for these games to be made more widely available just makes no sense to me. Me paying $100 secondhand for Pokémon Crystal gives Nintendo nothing.

I saw that under Nintendo's FAQ on piracy where they said something along the lines of "the piracy of out of print games undermines the value of current games" so if I play Mario Kart 64 then I'm less likely to buy Mario Kart 8, the latter of which would make them more money?

I actually feel the opposite, I won't buy any modern Pokémon games just because they don't interest me, I'd rather play the old ones. Nintendo is very dumb in thinking that their newest games are always the best in the series when they never are.

Re: Limited Run Co-Founder Claims Selling CD-Rs To Customers Was Always The Idea

@LadyCharlie Yeah, I've only had one small issue with the glue in a box melting and ruining the poster, but I think that most people's issues with the company (for Switch games at least) is just how expensive the games are and how long it takes them to ship. I ordered in-stock items during the blowout sale that took nearly a month to send out. I also am perfectly fine paying $35-40 for a physical Switch game, but then their "collectors editions" add a keychain, a brochure and a cd and they sell that for $45 extra.

@UK_Kev I don't think Nintendo is THAT involved but I do know that there HAVE been Switch slipups (the one I remember is that if you have a physical copy of the original Doom you can't upgrade to the new release for free).

Re: "This Could Be Crippling" - Fake PS1 Discs Just Got Harder To Spot

IceClimbersMain

Honestly I'm fine with indistinguishable fakes, except that these aren't, simply because they won't work on a stock PS1.

There are so many rare or valuable games that I would love the chance to play authentically but people trying to make a buck have jacked up the price. I don't buy fakes at the moment since pretty much any fake cart is cheap and obviously different compared to a real one, but discs are different.

One day I'll get around to setting one of these up, was at a local fighting game tournament and they were running a "mystery game" tournament on a Mister, stuff like Xmen vs Street Fighter or World Heroes 2. Felt really good to play and they even had a tiny CRT to go along with it but it looked like a mess, way more complicated than what I could do.

@Poodlestargenerica you blocked/ignored me on here but I'm still getting emails when I'm mentioned here, so I'm not even sure you'll see this lol.

I didn't say I was in the US, but I am. I'm not voting Democrat but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate and respect other people for sharing my interest, it's not that deep. I wanted to leave it as vague as possible so political discussion wouldn't pop up but it still did.

Re: The Atari 7800+ Resurrects Another Classic Atari Console

IceClimbersMain

Cool but I'm not entirely sure I have much of a reason to buy this. I (and I would guess most other people) have the most nostalgia for the 2600 and would probably go with that one considering it also plays 7800 games.

If it was just a little cheaper I would be more open to buying one to have on my setup but $130 is hard to justify. Still cool that they're making it.

Re: PS1 Net Yaroze And Pico-8 Games Are Coming To Antstream

IceClimbersMain

I think the concept of Antstream is really cool and definitely needed in the atmosphere of emulation in the eyes of the public, but my internet is just too slow to use it. These games are tiny, wish they could download them to the system you're playing on even temporarily so there's no input latency.
