Honestly? It makes sense. If you've got something "rare" like that, it doesn't cost anything to list on ebay. The odds of someone paying thousands of dollars for it is low, but not zero.
The problem with these niche things is that they always have really low specs and cool "retro" features but they end up way over-priced. Hopefully this won't end up being $200+.
The only game I'm actively awaiting a fan-translation for is that horror Athena game on PS1, surely someone will do it at some point... or I'll have to learn to do it myself.
The flippydrive has been great so far, I almost regret not doing one of those external micro sd card mods as well but I don't need to crack the thing open too often.
Waiting on that Bluetooth controller update, that's when I'll pull it out and update it again.
@drypaphmrbro I figured there were two outcomes, either I get my SuperSega, or Sega themselves steps in and I get my money back, the whole ordeal has been mighty entertaining
I just put my order in for it about a week ago after picking up my first nuon. It's really cool to see an actual new game, hopefully they can get enough support for it.
@Sketcz iirc Ostent (specifically the Ostent Gold if yours is a 1000) seems to be the best. Original Sony batteries lasted the best but they're all so old now. I've had one in my 2000 for nearly a year now and it runs for a few hours and charges fast.
Problem is that there are fake FAKE psp batteries, and what I mean by that is there have been reports of fake Ostent or Ostent Gold batteries that were made to look like them, but the "official" seller on Amazon should be your best bet.
I find it very funny that some of y'all "don't care" if bad games are "lost" to history because the good games will always see rereleases. I personally enjoy many "bad" older games for more unique consoles.
I saw that under Nintendo's FAQ on piracy where they said something along the lines of "the piracy of out of print games undermines the value of current games" so if I play Mario Kart 64 then I'm less likely to buy Mario Kart 8, the latter of which would make them more money?
@LadyCharlie Yeah, I've only had one small issue with the glue in a box melting and ruining the poster, but I think that most people's issues with the company (for Switch games at least) is just how expensive the games are and how long it takes them to ship. I ordered in-stock items during the blowout sale that took nearly a month to send out. I also am perfectly fine paying $35-40 for a physical Switch game, but then their "collectors editions" add a keychain, a brochure and a cd and they sell that for $45 extra.
@UK_Kev I don't think Nintendo is THAT involved but I do know that there HAVE been Switch slipups (the one I remember is that if you have a physical copy of the original Doom you can't upgrade to the new release for free).
If they're really $5 I might finally bite on these games after being tempted by seeing them on the eshop for so long. They're, what, $15 a pop on the Switch? And much more if you want physical copies?
Honestly I'm fine with indistinguishable fakes, except that these aren't, simply because they won't work on a stock PS1.
There are so many rare or valuable games that I would love the chance to play authentically but people trying to make a buck have jacked up the price. I don't buy fakes at the moment since pretty much any fake cart is cheap and obviously different compared to a real one, but discs are different.
We've got CVS in Smash, that Kof mobile game, Fall Guys (they did add several Street Fighters characters there already lol), the NGPC Selections brought back SVC Match of the Millennium and SVC Card Fighters Clash, they rereleased SVC Chaos, CVS and CVS2 are coming back in 2025, and of course SF6 and Fatal Fury.
The games I emulate are either not available to purchase officially, or games that I've ripped from my own consoles. I think I'm justified in playing both.
Interesting to see how this works as IIRC the DS is much like the PSP as it cannot connect to modern wifi, the best way is using your phone's hotspot with no security and that's slow, costs more and is unsafe.
@Bunkerneath Thankfully Wii games are incredibly easy to rip directly from your own working console, so you can just copy over all your games to a micro sd card and then trim it down.
One day I'll get around to setting one of these up, was at a local fighting game tournament and they were running a "mystery game" tournament on a Mister, stuff like Xmen vs Street Fighter or World Heroes 2. Felt really good to play and they even had a tiny CRT to go along with it but it looked like a mess, way more complicated than what I could do.
Real pretty looking game, love vector graphics. Had $6 leftover in my Steam wallet and this was exactly the type of game I was looking for. Wonder how it'll perform/look on my Steam Deck Oled
I don't own any fpga hardware yet but even I know Jotego. Guy's doing incredible game preservation and who cares if he's able to make a couple bucks for it. Of course it makes for since for people to pay for early cores to get early products. That's their decision.
@Poodlestargenerica you blocked/ignored me on here but I'm still getting emails when I'm mentioned here, so I'm not even sure you'll see this lol.
I didn't say I was in the US, but I am. I'm not voting Democrat but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate and respect other people for sharing my interest, it's not that deep. I wanted to leave it as vague as possible so political discussion wouldn't pop up but it still did.
Maybe that SuperSega console might actually see the light of day lol.
Honestly I never really understood FPGA until I got the NGPC collections on Switch/Steam. Something about the way they're emulated just feels off. I'll pick up an FPGA once they can get those games to work.
Within two years we'll see something the same size or even smaller than this that comfortably plays GameCube/PS2, that's why I still haven't bought one yet lol
Not a bad deal but then the definitive versions of 97, 98 and 02 are on Steam for $2/3 and those have more characters, rollback online and training mode.
I know they're doing this as a way to "easily" distribute the rights to a company who's willing to rerelease and preserve these games...
But man it'd be real funny if some collector just bought the rights to a set of games and just never did anything with them, I feel like this could backfire.
Cool but I'm not entirely sure I have much of a reason to buy this. I (and I would guess most other people) have the most nostalgia for the 2600 and would probably go with that one considering it also plays 7800 games.
If it was just a little cheaper I would be more open to buying one to have on my setup but $130 is hard to justify. Still cool that they're making it.
I think the concept of Antstream is really cool and definitely needed in the atmosphere of emulation in the eyes of the public, but my internet is just too slow to use it. These games are tiny, wish they could download them to the system you're playing on even temporarily so there's no input latency.
It looks cool, I won't lie, but being so close in price to the Analogue Pocket makes me think "why shouldn't I just buy that?" With an adapter I could play my Neogeo Pocket Color games, and I can run FPGA cores on it. If this was ~$125 I might feel more inclined to it.

I find it very funny that some of y'all "don't care" if bad games are "lost" to history because the good games will always see rereleases. I personally enjoy many "bad" older games for more unique consoles.
Many good or fan-favorite games are stuck in licensing hell, such as AVP arcade, Godzilla PS4, or the older Spider-Man titles. Plus, you've got Pokémon, the largest media franchise in the world, who STILL won't rerelease any of their older titles and those are some pretty good games.
The arguement that it is less beneficial for these games to be made more widely available just makes no sense to me. Me paying $100 secondhand for Pokémon Crystal gives Nintendo nothing.
I saw that under Nintendo's FAQ on piracy where they said something along the lines of "the piracy of out of print games undermines the value of current games" so if I play Mario Kart 64 then I'm less likely to buy Mario Kart 8, the latter of which would make them more money?
I actually feel the opposite, I won't buy any modern Pokémon games just because they don't interest me, I'd rather play the old ones. Nintendo is very dumb in thinking that their newest games are always the best in the series when they never are.

@Bonggon5 Huh, I didn't know people felt that way.
It's at least much better than the New 3DS one, I haven't used my old DSi in a while but I've always found the lite the most comfortable to use.
Re: Leaked Handheld Could Be The Perfect Way To Play Nintendo DS Games In 2024
I think that the best system to play ds games on is the ds lite.
Fantastic feeling and slim console, great screens and controls, no extra buttons or stretched resolutions to worry about, plus gba games.
