Re: Guide: All Yakuza Sega Arcade Minigames

belmont

I have not played any Yakuza game and I have no interest in them.

That said, since it seems they still have the rights, why don't they release all of those classics in PS4, Steam and other modern platforms? They are very few available.

Re: Analogue 3D Is An FPGA-Based N64 With 4K Output

belmont

It may be controversial opinion and I am not that of a fan of Nintendo if you exclude Game Boy and DS but I don't think the N64 has aged that well. Even back in the day some 3d games looked like a pixelated mess.

Still, I never got why Nintendo did not update Mario 64 with a full camera control which is too bad since the game is not outdated from a gameplay point of view. Even back in the day the idea felt limited to me.

Re: The Raspberry Pi 5 Is Launching Next Month

belmont

@Gs69 I also have this case but I don't like it that much. Emulation is spot on and I love the OG Game Boy look but the build quality on some buttons leave a lot to be desired, unless my was beat up since I got it used. Surely though the omission of a rechargeable battery is baffling.

Still, I really recommend the Pi Zero 2 if you are a fan of PS1 and the 8 and 16 bit games.

Re: The Raspberry Pi 5 Is Launching Next Month

belmont

@dre8472 I am more of a fan of the pi zero line to be honest they are insanely cheap. I have a couple of them for retro gaming stuff. Plays everything up to PS1 and some DS although you can't upscale most of the time. They can't emulate Saturn and Dreamcast though but I think even pi4 struggles with them.

Re: Guide: All 8BitDo Controllers & Accessories - Which Should I Buy?

belmont

@Hikingguy I knew about it. I was hesitant to order because they ship from China and I am in EU and I don't want to bother with custom office, import and custom fees etc.

However, I use the controller in the deck, even If I use it wired and the controller works vial Bluetooth on my PC so I ordered them, thanks for reminding me! From 3$ they may cost up to 20€ though.

Still the Xbox layout and the symmetrical sticks are nitpicks, but I want them in my controllers. Too bad 8bitdo hasn't made a 2.4Ghz version of Pro 2.

Re: Guide: All 8BitDo Controllers & Accessories - Which Should I Buy?

belmont

@Hikingguy Yeah, I know it is a nitpick but I hate the Switch layout. As for the rumble I will surely try it. I currently use the Pro 2 wired in my Deck but I don't think I will use it for long. The buttons are printed in the Switch layout. I was thinking to try the new Ultimate C with the 2.4 adapter that has the Xbox layout but it has asymmetrical sticks and I am not sure I should invest in a new one. The Pro 2 and the M30 and the USB adapter that I also have don't work as advertised.

Still thanks for the rumble tip. I will check it with both the Pro 2 and the Xbox One controller.

Re: Guide: All 8BitDo Controllers & Accessories - Which Should I Buy?

belmont

@Hikingguy I have tried this and I know it is a nitpick but I don't want to see the Switch layout, having more experience with the Xbox controller it confuses me. Even in this mode the controller disconnected randomly while I was playing Resident Evil 4 Remake and it was not pleasant. I play only wired for the tine being.

Unfortunately, I never had the Wii U Pro controller. I have heard only positive things for it.

Re: Guide: All 8BitDo Controllers & Accessories - Which Should I Buy?

belmont

@Serpenterror Thanks for the information ! I don't use beta and I only connect the controllers and they still disconnect randomly. I thought the USB Adapter would solve the issues but it doesn't. The controllers work fine wired though but I may have to invest in a 2.4 Ghz controller but all have asymmetrical sticks. In any case the problem that most 8bitdo controllers have the Nintendo Switch layout remains.

Re: Guide: All 8BitDo Controllers & Accessories - Which Should I Buy?

belmont

I cannot find a perfect controller for the Steam Deck. PS4 and Xbox controllers via Bluetooth disconnect randomly. 8bitdo Pro 2 controller shows the Xbox input buttons but it has the Switch ones printed on it and also disconnects randomly. The wireless USB adapter is advertised as working with the Deck but it doesn't.

I am open to suggestions. I really prefer symmetrical sticks since I play a lot of retro content and I want Steam to display the actual buttons I have to press...

Re: Clock Tower Creator Didn't Know About Its Upcoming Re-Release

belmont

I kind of get it why they maybe have at least contacted the OG creator but in the end of the day it is a job. I have personally some years ago created something and I am somewhat attached to it. If my former team/boss wanted to upgrade it or modernize it, why would they ask me? They would only maybe acknowledge my former work in the final version, nothing more.

Re: £699 ROG Ally Is The First "Next-Gen" Gaming Handheld, Says ASUS

belmont

For some reason Asus ROG ally is way more expensive in EU and UK? Anyway, I really enjoy my 409€ Steam Deck but I would really love a proper Windows 11 handheld with an attractive price point.

I have bought for work perposes various Asus laptops within the last 20 years. I have also one from the ROG line. Most really I used them for years without issues.

Re: Not Used Your Wii U In A While? It Might Be Dead

belmont

I will have to check it when I can. I cannot remember if I took a NAND backup though. Now, this topic hasn't been discussed back in the day? Where the quality of NAND flash memory was put to question?

What seemed to me as odd was that Nintendo advised against using USB flash storage media to store and run eshop games because they could not survive the constant read and write while they have supplied the Wii U with a hdd of similar technology.

Re: Forget Game Boy Mods, Funnyplaying Is Making An Entirely New Game Boy Console

belmont

I was "lucky" to score some more Gameboys, some even with backlit screens, before prices started to skyrocket. A cheap clone console with a good screen is something I am interested in. I have a GB Boy but the d-pad broke for some reason.

I still amazes me that an affordable retro console (and a personal favourite of mine) like the Gameboy that you could get both the system and some popular games relatively cheap slowly increase...
