@pikmin_4 He’s an utter shyster and a bully. He created a cult of personality as evidenced by the AtariAge fiasco. I’d take bets on him becoming some sort of MyPillowGuy nutter since this failed, he’s already used the term ‘gaming communism’ to describe his critics.
I really want one but I was too late to grab one before the queue became massive. Surprised to see no mention in this review of the DSi Flipnote Studio viewer that was created for it. You can even use the crank to move frame by frame!
This site does bear a bit of responsibility for pushing this one so hard. Got to wonder who’s in with Tommy because I’ve seen other people that I genuinely respected as journalists promoting this garbage fire as well, rather reminiscent of what we’re seeing now with some and NFTs.
Tommy’s just a massive clown and I’d never buy anything he was involved in. If they want this to sell at all then they need to get him as far away as possible.
@BionicDodo The Ocarina of Time randomiser. That’s the only reason I want an original console and Everdrive. Currently use emulator but would prefer the advantages of original hardware and the Polymega seemed like a good compromise.
Really hoping this leads to an increase in original hardware players in the ZOOTR community. Virtual Console introduces longer reload times and emulator players have to be monitored due to the potential for dodginess in there. This module will hopefully be a more attractive proposition than an original N64, as long as it lets you use an Everdrive.
@Meteoroid Because they’re horrifically terrible for the environment for starters. And you’re just trading one set of banking billionaires for another set of tech billionaires.
It’s the guy from Burnistoun! And yeah, he’s been involved with games for absolutely years. VideoGaiden was the first video game related show I ever saw on the telly. He’s an utterly perfect fit.
Does the version of RetroArch that both run support achievements? The whole RetroAchievements setup has totally reinvigorated my love for retro gaming.
“Sorry we couldn’t deliver the console on time, our slave labour’s just not coming through for us because they’re out protesting against a military coup”.
I’d love to grab a Dreamcast, I never owned one at the time but the games I played on the Cube were amazing like Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 and Skies of Arcadia.
I’d love it but due to the size of the ISOs, I doubt it’s Dreamcast. More likely to be Saturn. If it is Dreamcast though... Jet Set Radio, both Sonic Adventures, Crazy Taxi, Seaman, both Shenmues, Skies of Arcadia, Power Stone, Code Veronica, Soulcalibur, House of the Dead 2, Ikaruga, Rez, Street Fighter 3, Space Channel 5, ChuChu Rocket and Samba de Amigo. That’s a whole lot of great games.
@tofarawaytimes Well as far as you’re concerned you’re completely wrong then. It’s a ‘new release’ in the sense that it was completed but never released until now. It’s not ‘all-new’ in any sense of the word though, it’s ‘all-old’. It was literally written in the 90s.
Without the arcade versions, this just isn’t worth it for now. If they had dedicated their time to perfectly emulating arcade titles, they could focus on some really great obscure games but at this point, we’re left with console ports of games many of us have already played. It’s a shame alright.
That was a tough read but a fitting tribute to one of the greats, who helped get us all here on this site today by stoking our love of games. Lost too soon but those magazines will live on.
I love Yuzo Koshiro, it makes so much sense that he’s a fan of Yellow Magic Orchestra. I’d love to see him make a list in the style of Itoi, it was nice to see him actually confirm the influences Randy Newman and Harry Nilsson had on the Mother soundtrack.
They’re some veeeery exciting names on board with this. There could be some exciting experimental games coming out on this odd little thing. Also, Bennett Foddy didn’t really work on VVVVVV, he just named the rooms. He’s more known for Getting Over It and QWOP.
Well damn. What a tragic story and another reminder of the mental impact that financial desperation has on someone. To do something like that means that he must have had some high-level disorder but the pressures seem to have made him literally break. Never knew about this and a great article.

Re: Nintendo History Site 'Forest Of Illusion' Announces Its Closure
Reads like legal trouble with Nintendo. Such a shame, FOI was a heavyweight in the preservation game.

Genuinely useful to know for Rando runs.

Shame for the employees, karma for Tallarico.
Re: Trademark For Intellivision Amico Has Been Abandoned
Now let’s see Tommy Tallarico investigated for this entire debacle. He sold people dust.
Re: Intellivision Has Significantly Cut Its Staff To Help Amico Over The Finish Line
Waiting with bated breath for Tommy Tallarico to file for bankruptcy

Re: Intellivision Releases An Amico Unboxing, Showcases A Functioning System
That’s just a dev unit inside a mock-up. These people are genuine charlatans and NLife giving them free publicity is crazy.

Re: Intellivision Admits Its Wii-Like Amico Console May Never See Release
Wow you do surprise me. The fact they’re wanting to move into NFTs doesn’t surprise me either. Charlatans.

Re: RetroArch Is Working On Hardware That Allows You To Run N64 Carts On Your PC
Very good to hear. RetroArch being open source means this is a much more exciting prospect than all those start-ups.
Re: Random: While We Wait For A New F-Zero, This ZX Spectrum 'Port' Will Have To Do
Jeeeeez, that’s impressive. It’s one thing to do a demake on the NES but a whole other beast to do one on the Speccy of all consoles.
Re: Exclusive: Polymega's Next Module Brings Nintendo 64 Support
@BionicDodo Each run of the randomiser creates a new ROM image so it would be rather expensive to keep burning carts for it!

@impurekind So… you would have wanted them to make the non-binary contestant feel uncomfortable for ‘realism’?
Re: Feature: You Know What? The GamesMaster Reboot Is An Unexpected Delight
Bloody hell, it’s GamesMaster, not Fox News. Can people just stop being raging jobbies for 5 seconds?
