Wow does this age me some. I'll never forget going into the arcade area of the local pizza joint and seeing a crowd around the arcade cabinet. Kids of all ages were just amazed at what we were seeing. The graphics, the speed, the combos and especially that announcer. They had the volume all the way up so you'd hear the announcer from even outside the arcade area. It definitely worked because it brought all the kids right to it. It was a similar experience when the first Mortal Kombat hit the arcades.
The cherry on top was seeing the advertisement for the upcoming "Ultra 64". It would always get everyone all hyped up of what's in store whenever it launches. Well, we all know how it really ended up. Don't get me wrong I loved KI Gold but it was not anything like KI 1 or 2 exactly...
When I was in high school the chatter about the "Emotion Engine" was all the rage amongst us kids. That and the fact it also was a DVD player. Mind blowing stuff back then.
@LowDefAl Thanks for that info I didn't know any of that. It's definitely something that I avoided Googling for obvious reasons. I didn't want to explain to my fiancée why the targeted ads on my phone/computer were now of a certain nature
Ever since I saw that urinal game in one of those "Scary Movie" films I've always wished that would actually become a reality. I could totally see dudes in a bar/club or any restroom in Vegas getting carried away with it.
Bukkake Battle! Hana Kara Gyuunyuu / Milk Jet Battle
Uhhhh...am I reading that right? To my knowledge 'bukkake' meant something way out there that I ain't mentioning here. The 'Milk Jet Battle' title just kills me I can't deny I'm curious to know how that one plays.
I had a great time with my 3DS. Especially when I upgraded to the New 3DS XL for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. That was my main game for much of its lifecycle. I did play a good amount of other games like Lugi's Mansion 2 but I have to say Kid Icarus Uprising was my favorite besides MH4U. I'm begging for a Switch port of Uprising!
What I remember most about the PS2 era were two major aspects. I believe I was either a freshman or sophomore in high school and all us kids talked about the "Emotion Engine". It was being talked about how its going to be a revolution in gaming. Also the DVD drive was a massive deal for its time. DVD's were just starting to hit the market. When that first kid got a PS2 a whole gang of us went over to his house after school and were just blown away by the DVD. LOL we watched "The Fast and the Furious" and being the only DVD he had at the time I think we watched it multiple times. It was more about just being amazed at the technology than the actual movie itself. It sure was a different time.
Back in the era of Blockbuster we rented a Playstation 1 with 3 games (renting a system was big deal back then). Ridge Racer was one of those games and I remember all of us were just shocked by how that game was. Destruction Derby was the other game we rented and that one too blew us away. I believe the 3rd one was one of those on rails shooter games. Might have been Time Crisis or something similar but that also took us for one hell of a ride!
Wow it's been 25 YEARS!? This game dominated the household for months back then. We had friends and friends of friends coming over all the time to compete for high scores especially on the half-pipes. Everything about this game blew us all away. Can't wait till it drops on the NSO service.
I've mentioned this in previous articles on the subject matter but it really feels like collaborating with Street Fighter has become the thing to do now. Especially in the last 5 or so years there's some sort of Street Fighter collaboration in pretty much anything. It's like the bean counters at Capcom decided to just say yes to anyone who knocks on the door with money.
Oh man I loved this game! I remember the gameplay blowing me away at the time. If I recall it was one of those games I played a ton of but never beat it. Think I hit a difficulty spike somewhere and could never get past it.
Interesting. This reminds me especially in the 90's there were always video game contests to enter either from a TV commercial and/or especially gaming magazines. There was one in particular I remember around the mid 90's. It was a TV contest that would show the commercials during the typical after school cartoons and shows (I believe on whatever network that showed the original "Power Rangers"). The contest was something wild of "Win 2 Of Everything Sega Makes!!". It included 2 Genesis, 2 Game Gears and all their games etc. The commercial was crazy looking like someone from a monster truck show made. I just remember all the neighborhood and school kids going nuts and wanting to enter it. I'm really curious to know if anyone actually won that contest.
I must confess that's how I ended up having a Virtual Boy! There was a contest in GamePro magazine that if you sent in a picture of you playing a Virtual Boy in a random public space you could win one. I drove my mom nuts and had her take me to the local Target store, take a Polaroid picture of me using the display model, and send it in. Maybe a month or so later a GamePro representative called the house and told me personally I'm one of the winners! A few weeks later a big box was at the door with a Virtual Boy and a few games! Will never forget that innocent excitement of those youthful years
I'm going to have to go with Fifa RTWC 98 (N64). My brothers and I would play the hell out of it on N64. There was just something about it (especially that indoor mode) that was just so fun. In all fairness though I am being quite biased because I believe we stopped following the Fifa series after that game. We just loved that one so much we didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of a 'new' game every year. So, with that being said I can't speak for the rest of the games.
Yeah me too I wasn't aware this existed. Even if I did I would have bet on it not lasting very long especially now that the genre is being so oversaturated.
I can't remember the early 90's year I got the Game Genie for my Game Boy. It was my most wanted Xmas gift of all time that year and opening that present Xmas morning was excitement overload. I remember though realizing the commercial(s) for it were just slightly over exaggerating some of its abilities (like what @LavaTwilight just said). Some games it did a lot for and some hardly anything at all. Also I noticed if your game was NOT listed in that giant code book you were sh#t out of luck And yeah @Manjushri some games it really screwed them up to unplayable status it made using it for cheating pointless.

Re: Rogue Flight Is A Star Fox-Inspired Blaster Packed With Anime Vocal Talent
The ship reminds me a lot of the Gunstar from "The Last Starfighter". Game looks good. I'll have to see how it turns out.

Where's Tomcat Alley? As a kid that game blew me away!

I think the actor Michael Biehn could win a lawsuit over that picture.

I was digging the trailer until I saw Randy Pitchford. Ruined it. If I ever get around to checking this out hopefully he's barely in it.

The next time this happens I hope the robber uses a SNES Super Scope.
To me he also looks like what every social media activist tends to look like.

I'm going to be that guy and become a stubborn unmovable tree trunk. That list means nothing to me until I see these 2 games on there:
General Chaos
Skitchin
Without those 2 games that list is just fart in the wind to me.
