Love this game I rented it that much when I was younger and first got a megadrive the owner of the video store asked if I wanted to buy it think I was one of very few people with a Japanese MD as it wouldn’t work on my friends uk MD even with the converter he let me have it at a really discounted price still have it today the box art is one of my favourite of all time. Always baffled why they called themselves Namcot tho
Yeah I remember seeing this in magazines and it did look great but the gameplay was awful the Amiga was capable of so much more. At the time my older brother had just started working so he bought a super famicom and I chose final fight Guy although that version played better it still left a lot to be desired not a patch on streets of rage 2
@Razieluigi I agree they can’t be trusted and even if they were to release an all new castlevania half of it would be hidden behind a paywall with ridiculous micro transactions
@sdelfin the Dreamcast pad is pretty bad it’s useable not bad for racers it’s very similar to the Saturn analog controller which again was great for racing games but the Saturn controller was and probably still is the best for fighters
As arcade games are my thing the Dreamcast wins hands down for me I know the Saturn had its fair share of arcade games but the ones that were released in the west usually got an upgrade on Dreamcast anyway. Mega drive was my first console and I still have it whilst it’s an amazing console the Dreamcast still pips it for me the official arcade stick and a Dreamcast with capcom and SNK fighters is my idea of gaming heaven
I have the SNES MD and Amiga mini have to say the emulation on the Mega Drive mini is pretty much spot on it’s probably my most played on I have recently discovered that the 8bitdo arcade stick functions 100% on the Amiga I know it’s not ideal for every type of game on the system but it’s definitely a step up from the original controller the chaos engine plays amazingly with it
Just repaired and setup my ps2 after reading this I have a negcon which completely transforms the way the ps1 and ps2 games play once you get the hang of it feels amazing probably the best arcade racers ever made
@Andee it’s definitely not as fast or as thrilling as the Thunder force games but I feel it has pretty deep gameplay and the music on the MD is excellent saying that the Thunder force games have amazing soundtracks too
@MarioBrickLayer yeah I hope they all get released but the wait for Metroid Prime 4 seems like it’s gone on forever I have read in some reviews that this looks incredible one of the best looking games on the switch I’m really excited to get this
Waiting for the end of the month to get it physical not played this since it originally came out on the GameCube so hopefully it will feel like a new game
@Soupbones thanks that’s great news I really liked the port of Gleylancer on switch as it included the original and an enhanced version I would love all retro releases to go down that route but I’m definitely in for this day 1
Great games although I always feel zero wing gets mentioned more than hellfire but I personally think hellfire is the superior game. The megadrive version of hellfire is a lot better than the arcade version hope they include the MD version as a bonus
That is a nice looking game gear in the picture at the top always found it quite difficult to get hold of the games at the time the console was out so didn’t actually play many before I sold mine
Really regret selling my Neo Geo pocket always found it difficult to get games the beat em ups that were on the system were surprisingly deep for a handheld console great little console and the d pad was outstanding I remember getting a ridiculous amount of time from the batteries
This looks amazing I have been playing quite a few pinball games recently got an A500 mini and been playing slam tilt a hell of a lot also devil crash on the megadrive mini superb games hope this makes it to switch as the screen is perfect for pinball games if you use it in Tate mode
I’m not getting my hopes up for a Dreamcast 2 but I would like Hyperkin to get the nod from sega to produce a new Dreamcast based on the original with modern features such as ability to copy your disc games to sd card just to future proof my collection
I voted the Dreamcast arcade stick as I’ve had mine 22 years and it still works and feels amazing every time I use it (I did vote for it but it says 0% lol) as far as modern controllers go the elite series 2 is a thing of beauty and has a hefty feel to it my worst has to be Wii mote absolutely awful pain inducing kids toy the Wii u classic controller was amazing it’s battery was outstanding very easy to live with
This is indeed excellent News always kept hold of confidential mission and house of the dead 2 in hope some solution would be found im definitely in the market to buy a kit
Wish I had waited for this edition the packaging is cool but I’m glad I bought the game on switch it’s an absolute classic as mentioned the graphics and soundtrack are outstanding easily one of my favourite games on switch
I use rgb SCART for my PlayStation 1 and megadrive which still look’s amazing and vga for my Dreamcast I have tried the hdmi converters for those but I’m not keen on the look and the Dreamcast looks outstanding either on my tv or through a monitor
Last battle is awful got it for Christmas the year I got my MD it was quickly traded in I would add Dj boy and if I remember properly cutie Suzuki ringside angel a friend at school used to say it was the best game ever
I absolutely adore this game still have it on my ps vita via ps1 emulation but back when this was released it was sitting there near the till in Game which at the time I think it was branded as electronics boutique for £14.99 brand new being a poor student at the time I didn’t buy I was buying some new release I just kick myself over and over again
I would love a Saturn mini as I have a Dreamcast with plenty of games I just don’t see it being possible on the emulation side of things and all the best Saturn games never made it to the US or UK so we would just get the average kind of stuff we have all played a million times over
Great game this always thought of it as a cross between Rez, Arkanoid and virtua tennis sounds crazy but it works and the super chilled out voice fits so well “have a blast” managed to get it at a reasonable price years ago and the packaging is completely different to other Dreamcast releases
A good quality hdmi conversion is what I want to get around to doing just to future proof my DC but to be honest I use vga through a Toshiba tv and it looks stunning also anyone wanting to do a PSU upgrade it’s worth spending that little extra and getting a decent one like the one shown above I bought one of the cheap ones of eBay and it gave a swirling effect on screen which becomes distracting it’s a shame cos the console ran really cool had to put the original PSU back and it can get quite hot at times
Shadow gangs Dreamcast it’s quite tough been really enjoying it load times are pretty long but hey it’s a new Dreamcast game in 2022 also been playing castlevania collection on switch
I have my Dreamcast set up so I use that quite a lot also have SNES and MD mini I’m really getting into handhelds at the moment I have a retroflag gpi I love it cos it’s form factor is pretty close to the original gameboy but I’m saving for a steam deck can’t wait to get one
@Gamecuber yeah it’s only a minor thing but like you say it puts me off buying one as well I have the mk1 mini MD with a ton of games on so I’m not too bothered and yeah the price seems a bit ridiculous
I had the exact one as in the picture traded 3 games and still payed £40 but I wanted it so bad I remember people would queue up to play it in the local arcade just had to have it at home the game was a genuine phenomenon at the time
@Muriustar yeah outrun 2006 is great it’s a miracle they got it running on the psp I still play that as well but I use my vita nowadays think my disc drive gave up on psp
That’s a tough choice as I prefer the original to others where different gameplay elements got added the original is just a pure arcade racer but ridge racers 1 and 2 for psp are like a best of from everything that came before I went for the original as I still play it quite often and with a negcon it’s superb
@Hikingguy it’s a great game pretty bare bones when it comes to options but it’s like a modern day version of smash tv an unrelated game that I love at the moment is Andro Dunos 2 same principle to gameplay but really well made can’t recommend it enough
I bought this on switch in the sale and really enjoyed it so ended up buying it for Dreamcast noticed the silly prices on eBay which is just odd cos you can go on bitmap bureau shop and get it great game that seems tough at first becomes much easier with repeated play
Gunstar heroes is still an amazing game even now, I would say Hellfire is one of the megadrives best certainly better than zero wing I think it only gets attention cos of its hilarious intro and I have always preferred Thunderforce 3 to 4 yes 4 is impressive but it’s insanely difficult and what about super fantasy zone I think it gets forgotten about cos it wasn’t released in the US but it’s a fantastic game
Love the original ridge racer and I would definitely buy a remastered version but with the same controls and physics managed to get myself a negcon in lockdown got me interested in the game again now I have it mastered there is nothing else that controls like it still an amazing game just the graphics are looking really choppy but playability is still definitely there
I would buy this in a heartbeat I have a drawer on my desk dedicated to VMUs the capacity is laughable and the weird thing is they all have different amounts of blocks
@Hikingguy I use an acer nitro monitor with my Dreamcast and it looks and runs superbly I got the monitor recently but you really have to look around for a monitor with vga and as for tvs it’s very rare these days
@Xiovanni it is actually playable to a certain degree the cd image is out there I downloaded it out of curiosity but you can see it had the makings of a decent game
