Re: Review: Forever Pak 64 - Fixing Your N64's Ticking Time Bomb

@BulkSlash Same here I still have game saves from 25 years ago on there and as of last year they were still there so they really stood the test of time so worth the investment at the time. I just don't think anyone back then really trusted third party stuff so even the really good products didn't last long on sale.

@BulkSlash I still have a couple of those too. They are great for having multiple larger save files on, you're still limited to 16 slots but for the most part they a fantastic. I believe even some of Datel's regular memory cards done this and had 4 or 8 meg in one versions but have never owned any to know for sure. I'm surprised no one since has bothered to copy it as it was way ahead of the time even then.

Re: Trademark For Intellivision Amico Has Been Abandoned

Zenszulu

Seems like they have ran out of money already. It was announced over 4 years ago and very little has been shown on the progress of the system except what is an empty shell prototype and concept videos. It has been sold on marketing hype with very little actually happening in those 4 years to actually get a working product to market.

Re: Intellivision Releases An Amico Unboxing, Showcases A Functioning System

Zenszulu

@Turbo857 well the system costs about the same price as a Switch, series s and PS4 and you can get plenty of affordable games on those that will be similar in style and probably quality. So not really sure how at it's price it can be considered an alterative. Although I see you pretty much quoted their marketing with there first sentence. I am all for something new but for the price if I can get a system like the Switch for the same price which has plenty of indie and family friendly games like this does that young children can enjoy as well as more complex ones to play as they get older then I would consider one as a better investment that the other. If the system was far less expensive then I would agree with the affordable part but pricing it to match modern entry level systems voids that part for me.

Re: Yuji Naka Killed "Dreamcast's Star Fox", Says Former Sega Producer

@themightyant it's ok I had to pause for a moment and work out the time frame myself. Microsoft also had Blinx which was being pushed as a big platformer by them at the time. But as you said it happens quite often that games get dropped by publishers often for reasons that the developers or public are unaware of. I get some developers can hold grudges over these things as they aren't always told the reasons.

Although some of this also seems to be claiming the tech was so impressive that some aspects haven't been matched today so his side seems to me more stroking his own ego and if it was that impressive why did Sega never use it or infact him and the others not use something similar in all this time?

While Yuji Naka probably isn't the most pleasant person Sega probably had their reasons as to why it was cancelled that we will never fully know.

@themightyant I am aware of who published it when it eventually came out but I am referring to the part about Phil Spencer thinking Kameo would be the big launch hit when it turned out to be Halo. Just saying that the way it's worded makes it seem like they were launched at the same time which they weren't.

Re: Exclusive: Polymega's Next Module Brings Nintendo 64 Support

Zenszulu

For something that is an all in one solution for those with large physical collections I wasn't sure as my main physical collection from that period was N64 and there was never a mention of it and considering what this has done in terms of progression for Saturn emulation I was slightly disappointed. I may actually now look into this since it will now support that entire generation and the GUI looks very slick. Yes it is a bit pricey at first for emulation but for those who would rather use their original collection on something that looks nice rather than having several systems taking up space it is ideal. Plus something just seems so amazing about having an N64 cartridge plugged in with a PlayStation or Saturn disc in the drive at the same time.

Re: Polymega Release "Still On Track" Despite Production Problems

Zenszulu

As much of a will it won't it get released console this has turned out to be. It is kind of the worst place to be manufacturing it now because of everything going on there and how movement in and out of the country has been really restrictive.

People who are blaming them for making excuses, well this one is a pretty legitimate one and it's not like they agreed to have it manufactured there after everything that has happened recently they probably came to the agreement a long time ago.

Re: Poll: Did You Know That GoldenEye Had A Dual-Analogue Control Option On N64?

Zenszulu

I remember trying it a few times and it was awkward holding two controllers but if I am remembering right of you were dual wealding guns with Rumble paks in controller 1 would only vibrate for the left gun and controller 2 for the right one. It did make anything outside moving and shooting feel impossible though like changing weapons and opening doors as your right thumb would have to use A and B on the second controller.

Those acting arrogant about people not reading manuals and going through options to check every controller layout. Well many people have played this game years after it's release and may have picked up a loose cartridge and second not everyone adjust things in settings menus if they like how the game plays when they first start playing it. I know I didn't go through all that stuff when I got the game on release.

Re: Polymega Will Launch For Real This November - Or Earlier, If We're Lucky

Zenszulu

Still for me the price is a bit too much. While the base unit is great for those with physical CD collections of the systems emulated if you have physical cartridge collections you wish to dump onto the system and use the original controllers it starts getting even more pricey. If they had done one of the elements with two or three cartridge slots and controller ports for those particular systems they would seem like better value. I do get the appeal of the system for those people who don't like downloading roms online from various places and only want to use the what they physically own and having both Sega Saturn and PSone playing from one system is good in that regard. If only it done N64 although that emulsion is still all over the place.

Re: Terraonion Is Releasing An Optical Disc Emulator For The Sega Saturn And Dreamcast

Zenszulu

@DinnerAndWine you do realise pretty much all places that do reviews of games, hardware and other things like that don't actually pay for the products they feature and get them sent to them by the publishers and hardware manufacturers so they get exposure with no obligation to give it a good review? This has been standard practice since video games magazines of the 80s until now so it isn't a new concept.

Re: Hardware Review: Evercade - Can A 100% Physical Media Console Really Work In 2020?

Zenszulu

@Dualmask the indie games would have to be something that was also designed with a version on a retro console since this just emulates those systems and not a dedicated system in itself that is why games like Xeno Crisis and Tanglewood are on there as they are Mega Drive/Genesis games and are being emulated. I don't know if developers can program for the system directly.

Re: Hardware Review: Evercade - Can A 100% Physical Media Console Really Work In 2020?

Zenszulu

I am kind of interested in this more because compared to all the other emulation handhelds floating around out there this actual has officially licenced games from the publishers on it so the physical media is good in that respect as you know it's a licenced product lack of a digital online market place isn't really a bad thing since the cartridges are hardly that expensive. From early picture with no size comparison I originally did think it was going to be tiny the size actual makes it more appealing because if it was too small it may have been uncomfortable to hold for long periods.

Re: The Creator Of The World's Most Famous Cheat Code Has Died

@carlos82 I think many people always used to get missed information back then on the buttons you needed to press on the first Sonic. I knew someone who used to hold down A+B+C and start after the first part every time and another that done A+C and start because it was past down by word of mouth rather than they read it in a magazine.
